Good base for the money have one in our boat and wont turn colors on you just be shure to put some type of assembly grease on the end of the pole because if not it will get stuck in the base and will be very unpleasent to try to get out.

Does the trick. works great and perfect fit for the swivl-eze pedistal. swivl-eze pedistal pulls out of the base fine and it has a secure fit when the pesistal is in the base. Great product.

I really like this base, but to make it even better, I use a base support which is a metal ring that gets bolted underneath the floor to the pedestal base, which distributes the strain put on the base by a heavy person (like me at 289lbs). I use this base for my seats on a pontoon boat (for the power wedge pedestals).
Now it is pretty darn tough to get the pedestal out of the base, but that gives me confidence that it's not going to just come loose on rough water and send me over the edge of the boat. I put my foot against the wedge of the pedestal as I pull up on it and rock the seat, it'll come out every time. I personally don't like the pin pedestals, no confidence there as I have broken two of those in Louisiana rough waters (in the bay).
My handicapped wife loves that secure feeling too, knowing she won't be tossed from her chair.
