I purchased this rack last fall and I've used it quite a few times. Here are the positives and negatives about this rack.
First the positives; The rack itself is solid and well built. It is heavy gauge aluminum with a nice powder coat finish. The fold down arms and the tilt away feature work just fine. The adjustable bike cradles and rubber straps hold the bikes very secure. It also holds the tow along bike buggy we have for my son with no problems.
Now the negatives; The hitch arm is metal and it is made for a 1-1/4" receiver. It comes with a 2 piece add-on nylon shell that increases the arm size to 2". These are attached with 4 stainless screws. The problem here is that the arm does not fit tight inside the receiver and there is a lot of movement side to side. To eliminate this problem, the hitch pin hole on the rack is a threaded hole and the rack comes with a hardened bolt that replaces your typical hitch pin. When threaded through the receiver and through the rack arm, it can be tightened down and this locks the rack in place so it wont move. This works fine but it now prevents you from using a regular locking hitch pin to prevent your rack and bikes from being removed from the vehicle by anyone with a 3/4" box wrench. Also, the bolt only has threads half way down its length so you can't even thread a lock nut onto the other end which would at the very least require 2 wrenches to install and remove the rack. There is no security in this mounting system but it does keep the rack tight to the receiver and prevent it from moving.
I am having a machine shop near my house machine a new hardened bolt that will accept a key lock on the end of the bolt. We travel with our bikes and besides using a cable lock to secure the bikes to the rack, I want the added security of being able to lock the rack to the truck as well.
Aside from the unusual mounting system and lack of lock-ability, all the other aspects of this rack work well. If locking it down isn't a priority, then for the money, this rack would suit just fine.
