You look up and see stars. But your Suunto Core Watch sees an approaching squall. The Core's Storm Alarm is just one of several intelligent features that can help you make consistently good decisions. The Suunto Core keeps you informed with an accurate altimeter, barometer, digital thermometer, Weather Trend Indicator and digital compass.
The pressure gauge operates in four distinct modes, including an automatic setting that senses your movement or lack thereof, switching between altimeter and barometer accordingly. The compass features a rotating bezel for traditional use, or a one-touch function that allows you to sight, lock and follow a bearing. Daily functions include dual time, date, alarm, sports chronograph and predicted times for sunrise and sunset.
The Suunto Core Watch makes an excellent gift for the outdoorsman or sportsman!

I returned this watch. I thought the display was very dim no matter how I adjusted the brightness. It is also somewhat difficult to learn all the settings.

I bought this watch after studying many models out there on the market. I have to say, I made the right choice.
This watch is amazing and very accurate. The Altimeter, Barometer and Compass are "dead on" and can be compared to any Topo map or hand held compass, and be 100% correct.
The brightness of the display is a little low, but that's what you get when you buy a "Military" style watch.
The Barometer is very useful for hunting and fishing, as well as letting you know when a storm is approaching.
This watch is well worth the money, and should be highly considered when looking for a "AB and C" watch.
I do not leave home without it.

This watch is easy to use and appears to be very accurate. The illumination could be brighter. Although you can change the contrast, (factory set at 7 of 10) increasing it more than an 8 will cause other areas of the face to begin to be visible although they are not related to the current function. Likewise, the backlighting feature (green) could be brighter as well. Its difficult to read any small numbers on the face in the dark with the backlight feature on. A white face may have been a better choice.
Overall, the watch is a good quality, well made, and the side buttons are easy to use and do not stick out too far.
Unlike a GPS, you must remember to reset the Altimeter or Barometer periodically to get an accurate reading. I would also prefer an additional button on the left side to change profiles etc. rather than stepping down through a few menus to change it. Just takes too long. Maybe with practice it'll become faster. i.e. to go to the depth meter you have to first go to the barometer, then to the profile, then scan the profiles to find the depth meter. 8 pushes of the buttons!

Compass The digital compass displays the cardinal or half-cardinal point and the North. The declination adjustment function allows you to correct the difference between the true North and magnetic North. You can also set it to track a certain bearing, which helps you follow a chosen direction in the terrain. The compass features a rotating bezel for traditional use (most variants), or a one-touch function that allows you to sight lock and follow a bearing.
