The Summit™ The Crush™ Series Viper® SD Ultra Climbing Treestand was my first treestand purchase. I first heard about the Summit stand from a friend who loved it - for bowhunting and rifle hunting. After feeling how comfortable the stand was and reading/researching a number of stands I settled on the Viper SD. When I received my stand I was pleased at the ease of setup, but found I was missing a hardware packet. Upon calling Summit they quickly responded and shipped it that day no questions asked.
The stand itself is very easy to put together, a drill for the footrest and the rest of it is just hooking up the straps, seat, and stirrups. It is and well-made, sturdy, and very comfortable...much more than the previous stands I have used. The QuickDraw cables are easy to use and it climbs well (I'm 5'11 155 lbs). After just two to three days working with it during gun season I can get it setup and up the tree in less than 5 minutes. I even let my friend use it this week as a first time hunter (giving him the 15 minute crash-course) and after killing his first ever deer is looking to buy one for next year.
The positives are that it is comfortable, easy-to-use, climbs well, lightweight, sturdy, and easy to put together for packing in/out. Not many negatives, but the overhead portion of the harness doesn't seem quite long enough as certain positioned "behind the stand" shots don't allow enough slack to completely spin around without making me bend my neck awkwardly. One other thing to mention is there wasn't any padding on the metal between the front of the shooting rest and the armpads...so I added some so my gun wouldn't get scratched. I might do that on the frame too so I don't keep bumping my gun stock when packing it into the woods through the brush :)
Overall I love the stand and would definitely recommend this stand to others! Looking forward to using it about 10 more times this season and hopefully getting the big buck I've been watching!

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Gahunter1217 It's just ok
It just ok to me. I'm sending it back cause its to small for me. I'm 6.2 270 pounds. I have no room to move around but for a smaller person it should be fine. I had no problem climbing in it and this is the first stand I ever used or owned. The paint does come off easily and the cable coating nicks easily too. But I did feel safe in it and its pretty light.

This is my first climber and I am very satisfied with it. The weight is decent and the stand is quiet and comfortable. Very easy to assemble and use. My only complaint is that the pack straps allow move a little to easily and allow the stand to shift from side to side while packing it in, but I'll probably replace them anyways.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Ohiohunt Great purchase
Never had a tree climber before and this was simple setup and tried on one tree and was up in no time. Have used this only a few times so far but perfect for public game land hunts. Still need to figure out how to be a little more quiet when setting up in the dark but I am sure more practice is all that is needed.
