Item was easy to put together. Instructions are not very clear, but with some common sense and looking at the picture, one can figure it out. My fish finder would not fit, so I made some modifications to get my fish finder mounted - no problem. There was no pad to protect my boat. I called the company and had a good conversation with the person. He said that they no longer provided the pad due to costs. So I used a furnature felt pad with adhesive - works fine.
Would like it better if it allowed the transducer bracket to swivel. That way, I could mount the unit while it was on the trailer and not have to worry about the Transducer hitting the trailer fender.
I haven't had it on the water, but when mounted to my boat, it seems very secure.
