Meaty and substantial, it moves water—and the oversized legs and scalloped Rage Tail create plenty of fish-calling thump. Great for Texas Rigs, Carolina Rigs, flipping or pitching.

good find I found one of these along the bank of a lake I fish. Thought it looked pretty cool so I rigged it. Second cast I bailed a fish. Awesome action and it sinks nicely.I caught 4 more fish before the bait was destroyed. I searched like mad online to figure out what this was I had found.....now I have 10 packs in different colors and plan on getting more September 30, 2012
awesome lure This is absolutely my new go to lure. I am not a great fisherman but have not been skunked once using these. If there are bass there, they will hit this bait and hit it HARD. I guess that's the only problem with it - they cant handle getting hit too many times. I really dont mind buying more though if they put fish on the hook. June 25, 2012
So Far So Good I saw Shaw Grigsby use this on TV and decided to give it a shot. Could not find it anywhere here and ordered it online. Well first time using it BAM!! caught a bass and lost it as it tried to land it on land( i fished it from a bank) I think the hook was not sharp enough or did not set the hook good. I will definately use this is again and try the green pumkin next time - worth the money and appears to hold up good and packaged real well June 7, 2012
smoking roster looking at this bait you would not buy it because it looks like it is too big for the fish. well its not too big. the first time i fished this bait i hooked a fish on the very first cast. i finished the day landing about 20 to 25 fish. i used to not even look at a new lure because why change something thats working.the only thing i dont like is the price.the lure should be a little more durable for that price. there are by far cheaper baits out there and like you I watch what I spend on baits and tackle and I can tell you this - the first time I used this I caught a bass - definately worth it - also Texas Rigged with or without a weight will just do just fine

Seeing how you are a budget spender I can understand the you would want to get the best you can for your money. First you need to answers the questions in regards to where are you going to fish. How clear is the water is it clear, muddy, or some where in the middle?
If the water is clear you need to use more natural looking baits such as watermelon seed, green pumpkin, black, laminate, watermelon pearl, red shad green flake, red shad, bumblebee swirl, dark grasshopper, dark watermelon, and ultimate craw. If the water is some where in the middle of clear and muddy then these colors will work grate. Black neon, watermelon red, Ozark smoke, smoke red pepper, Cajun neon, Cooter brown. I have to say that green pumpkin neon works grate in the partly muddy water. If the water is really muddy colors like bubblegum lemon swirl, crawdad, and Virgo blue will work

I have used the smoking rooster for any number of things, including a trailer for my swim jigs. My preference is to use it keel weighted, and swim it along, but it worked very well on swim jigs as well.

I use size 5 wide gap hook for the regualar bush hog with a 1/2 oz tungstun weight. It penetrates the cover very well. If the cover is really thick I peg the weight and flip it hog high so it drops stright down through the cover.
