Made from high-grade plastics for superior action and excellent durability, the Rage Tail line of soft plastics features designs engineered to provoke violent strikes from the biggest lunkers in the lake! Features a fat body and a bulbous, wobbling tail. Rig weightless on a 4/0 or 6/0 wide gap hook, with the tail up.
Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 69 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent topwater bait! This is an excellent topwater bait. Practically weedless and easy to fish in heavy cover. I prefer it 10 to 1 over a frog. Best fished with a 5/0 hook. The only drawback I have found with it is that it is not very durable. Too soft! May 28, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Topwater This is by far one of the best top-water lures I've ever used. It fishes basically as a weedless softplasic buzzbait that bass annihilate. The only downside is as with may softplastics the durability isn't fantastic but you can usually superglue the rips and tear to get another few fish out of them on the next trip. April 26, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Top Water Fishin'!!! I've searched a long time for a soft plastic top water lure that wasn't a frog. And I just found the one I was looking for. Caught a nice 2 pounder on less than 10 casts. And it wasn't too much later than that I got an 18 incher. The next day I had a 5 plus pounder on but lost him at the bank because of I made a mistake and my line snapped. Great lure! Rig it how they say on the package and you won't have any problems. Great Buy! August 24, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Draws Strikes While this bait draws strikes very well the tails tear off much too easily if you're in heavy lilly pads. Which is where you least need it to happen. July 17, 2011

You must wait until you know the fish has the lure before setting, (more difficult than it sounds), then it's not too bad.

Am rigging the lure using a #4 Bass Pro XPS super lock hook. Being soft plastic lure with the extra wide hook the bass just about hook themself when they strike.

No, if you count 1 - 1,000 slowly in your head and then set it - works every time.

Not at all. When the fish blows up on this bait, and they will, just pause your retrieve for a moment and then lean in to a nice solid hook set. If you are using a sharp hook, of the right size (Moaner 4/0 Keel weighted Stroker hook), a rod with the correct action (medium heavy) and some braided line then you will be fine and dandy.

the hook set isnt that hard if you have a nice 5/0 hook, just wait a little after the fish takes it to set the hook.

About 3inches maybe a hair longer but not much. Kind of thick though about 1/2 inch so use a 4/0 or 5/0 EWG hook

Am rigging it using a small snap swivel. The swivel keeps the line from twisting on the retreive. It seems the spin on the retreive is what makes the splash which makes the bass attack the lure

rig them on a keel weighted hooks such as the MOANER Stroker hook with the 1/8 oz keel weight. I use the 4/0 size. This will prevent the bait from rolling as you reel them in. Using a bait casting reel as opposed to a spinning reel is helpful as well.

BE SURE TO USE A 5/0 OR 6/0 HOOK AND BE SURE TO HOOK THEM RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE WHERE THE LINE IS WITH TAIL PROTRUDINGG UP. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE A SWMINAR WHERE A FACTORY REP SHOWED HOW TO HOOK THEM UP. ON THE RAGE WEB SITE IT SHOWS HOW TO HOOK THEM.

just rig it like it shows in the product info on the bass pro website. it does roll a bit. you need to keep reeling it in. the action is in the tail.

The proper way to rig a Strike King Rage Shad is tail up with a wide gap worm hook. I use size 4/0. Rig it Texas style and weightless with one flat wide side down and the other up. Think of it as reeling a pancake across the surface. They are made to be a surface lure and will not twist if rigged right. Once you see and hear the action you may never use a buzzbait again!

I was unable to stop the bait from rolling while fishing it at a speed to make the tail work weightless. I texas rigged it with a weighted swimbait hook and that helps quite a bit.
