''This thing is amazing. When it gets down to its running depth it moves back and forth as it travels along. It looks like it's hunting or rooting or searching for something. It may be the most realistic action I've ever seen in a crankbait. They bite it like crazy.''
Kevin VanDam

Runs straight out of the package and the hooks are perfectly fine. You may want to put triple grips on to make sure you don't lose a fish but they're not required.

This really runs XD to the depths advertised! I paired with my Lexa reel and cranking stick rod and it brings up big fish all the time. I fish a massive dropoff up north and this is the only lip crankbait that I can use, nothing else runs deep enough. Best deep crank out there.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by brotherjay51 3rd cast, Hookup !!!!!
I fish northern california lakes like berryessa, sonoma, clearlake and the california delta. my first club tournament saw me with no keepers in box. i bought these lures because of the price and they had been sitting there. with nothing to lose, I put the 6xd sexy shad on. Great action and casting distance. I hooked up a six pounder on my third cast. culled all day. I hooked into a fish,I could not turn around and lost my lure. thank god i had more in my box. when i can afford it ,I will fill my box with various colors of this crankbait.

I love to throw crankbaits anywhere I can. I already have a series 6,which dives down to 15 ft. I am wandering if I should also get the 5XD, which also dives down to 15 ft. I heard that the size difference is important, but I am wandering if a 1/4 inch in length is really that important.Answers

It is, its not just the 1/4 in that you get its the size of the whole bait. Do you have any series 5 to compare it to? The XD is the same side as the 5 but dives deeper.A:Â
Just use a strike king KVD rattling square bill, youll love it and buy nothing else!A:Â
There are times and conditions that a 1/4 in. can make all the difference in the world. Use "Match the hatch" as a rule when choosing a crank bait and try to choose one that is close to the same size as the bait fish on that body of water.A:Â
It is really important if the fish are feeding on smaller fish.Top 100 Contributor

The fish will tell you that. I use the 6XD as a summer crankbait and it is superb. As with any bait, you are trying to match the size of the forage and the closer you get to that the better off you are. I'd use the larger bait in summer and fall.Answers
