It's easy to see why Strike King® Pro-Model® XD Series crankbaits are so popular with the pros. These medium- (5XD) and large-bodied (6XD), extra-deep diving crankbaits feature a unique curved bill and balance that creates a steep dive angle, allowing them to dive deeper and faster than most other deep diving hardbaits. This unique bill also allows the XDs to track well when making contact with the bottom. Every lure in the 5XD and 6XD series also features striking finishes and free-floating rattle chambers that emit varying sound frequencies to inspire big strikes.
''This thing is amazing. When it gets down to its running depth it moves back and forth as it travels along. It looks like it's hunting or rooting or searching for something. It may be the most realistic action I've ever seen in a crankbait. They bite it like crazy.''
NOTE: Model 5XD is not currently being shown for any of the colors.
Strike King® Pro-Model® 5XD or 6XD Series
I use this for saltwater fishing off rocks. Its excellent for Tigres (rock grouper)..especially those weighing in about 5kg. I do have two small complaints though. Something needs to be done to make the eyes stay on. Better glue perhaps? Also the the hooks break easily so you should walk with extra treble hooks in your bag. However, I still give it 5 stars because of the sheer lethality of this lure for catching Tigres. Because it's a deep diver you need to be careful about getting stuck in rocks. Ease off when you feel a bump and the lure would just rise to the surface avoiding snags.

Great Lure for the price!
This is a great lure for the $$! First day I used it I caught a 4lb bass and a hybrid stripper, absolutely superb action.

Very nice for the price.
Bought these to fish deep drops. They performed well enough to produce fish on every trip so far. I would recommend changing out the front hook as it is a bit large for bouncing off deep timber. All in all this crank produces bites.

I love to throw crankbaits anywhere I can. I already have a series 6,which dives down to 15 ft. I am wandering if I should also get the 5XD, which also dives down to 15 ft. I heard that the size difference is important, but I am wandering if a 1/4 inch in length is really that important.
There are times and conditions that a 1/4 in. can make all the difference in the world. Use "Match the hatch" as a rule when choosing a crank bait and try to choose one that is close to the same size as the bait fish on that body of water.
The fish will tell you that. I use the 6XD as a summer crankbait and it is superb. As with any bait, you are trying to match the size of the forage and the closer you get to that the better off you are. I'd use the larger bait in summer and fall.
