Other than the big, meaty body, we don't know how these unique Softbaits got their names. After all, the Rodent and Baby Rodent's waving legs and dual tail flaps suggest a different kind of critter altogether. But there's no doubting that the Rodents will do a number on big bass. Strike King's level of detail is unmatched, and the profile and action will attract plenty of attention even in heavy cover. Jig it or rig it, and hold on tight! Strike King's Rodents are enhanced with real coffee bean granules and coffee bean oil to give the tubes an earthy tinge and a naturally strong scent/taste big bass are eager to slurp up. Not only does the coffee scent/flavor entice and encourage fish to hold the bite longer, it also works to mask human scents. They are salt-impregnated too!

Bought a package of this Strike King Softbait Rodent and got a chance to fish a private pond the next day. I knew there were lots of bass in the 100 acre pond but Jigging was not working neither were crank baits, top water or rattle-traps. I rigged one of these rodents up Texas style and started trying to hit the dark spots around the banks of the pond that I could throw to. Johnny Morris signature reel and a Falcon MF 7 ft rod made long casts a pleasure. Long story short of it; in two hours had 6 nice 2 to 3 pounders that really tore up the rodents. I bought two more packs at Bass Pro Shops the next day.

I have caught many bass with these, so far I have used Big Tex and Green Pumpkin with both producing fish. My favorite way to fish these is on a Texas rig with a 1/4 ounce tungsten weight. You have to find out what kind of retrieve the bass like. What has worked best for me is 2 hops and then do about a 2-5 second pause keeping the line tight to feel a bite. I also love the coffee scent on these baits, and so do the fish! But, make sure when you are buying a pack to find a pack with the most intact baits, some of the baits will be missing limbs in the package, but they still work fine and attract fish!
