Great for targeting line-wary gamefish, low-visibility Stren® Magnathin® Line offers an exceptional strength-to-diameter ratio which allows anglers to drop down a line size or two without sacrificing the strength to haul in the fighters. An advanced casting formula makes for super-smooth, long-distance casts. And because Magnathin has such a thin diameter, you can spool up to 50% more line on your reel. 330 yards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Solid Dependable Product I have used this line for over 10 years without failure. I have landed multiple 40# plus Musky's on 16# test without leaders and have never been broken off. I swear by the 8# for Walleye fishing and 12# for fishing Crankbaits. I am a firm believer in this product. I use it on every reel I own. Great knot strength, low memory, low stretch for mono, very smooth to use and cast. You will not be disappointed. March 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Stren Magathin Great line - wish it was available in "bulk" spools. December 17, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Most reliable I have to say that Magnathin line is truly the best line I have fished. I've tried them all. As a tournament angler, I rely heavily on my line being the best it can be. This line casts well due to the thinner diameter, has little line twists and is consistent out of the package each and every time. The fact is, many lines are not. I've gotten bad batches of line from many other manufacturers - it happens.. a lot actually. There is little stretch to this line (even though they do not promote that aspect of it). Put it side by side with a flourocarbon line of the same lb strength... you'll see. Trust this line.... it's one of two I'll use. August 21, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great mono This is very thin mono and it casts very far on my spinning rods and bait casting rods. It's been holding up for me pretty despite the fact that half of my line has been frayed from a broken rod tip (my fault) Would definetly buy more! June 17, 2013

Will the 17 or 18 lb hold up to a muskie or big catfish with a wire bite leader attached to a topwater lure or live bait?

A:
I use the 16# Magnathin for both Northern and Musky fishing in Ontario. I do not use a leader and have never been bitten off. I have multiple trophy Musky's up to 50#'s and will always use Magnathin without hesitation.

A:
Absolutely, it will hold up as long as your drag can handle the explosive runs those fish make. I have caught big redfish on 10lb line with steel leader, its all about the drag.

Six lb. mega thin is great for shy crappie.I have been using 17# sensation for bass for a long time, but with my success with crappie,I'm going to try 16# mega thin for my bass fishing which hasn't been as good. But so far have not had a problem with breaks on either line.

You will have much better feel with the Magnithin. I fish it with a Senko and have missed fewer fish with it.

Actually I would recommend big game due to abrasion resistant. I've jigged for walleye in north carolina and from the rocks and underwater hazards this lne has worked for me very well.

I found that it is equal to 6lb by diameter and you can spool more line and it flexibility lets it cast like 6lb

I purchased the 30# magna thin and really like it. The 30 lb test is about the same as 20 lb test in other brands. It is still pliable without a lot of memory and I also like the green color that I purchased.
