Rated 5 out of 5 by KKSD Excellent For Leader Line
I decided to give the 4 lb Stren Fluorocast a try as a leader line for Trout fishing. Had 4 nice 3 to 4+ pound trout, (Nebraska Tailwalkers) take the line into the weeds quite a few times during the fight, with no line problems what so ever. I was also getting more strikes than anyone around me. I gave it 5 stars for holding up the way it did.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Rippinthemlips A little stiff, but great leader line
My normal go to fluoro line is Berkley Vanish or Berkley Trilene 100% fluorocarbon. Only couple of my freshwater spinning reels are completely spooled with fluoro line, otherwise I normally use fluorocarbon line as leader. My reel was due for new line anyways so I stripped all the old line, then put Stren fluorocast line on. I'd have to say, it is slightly on the stiff side by the way the line would coil off the reel like a spring when I opened the bail. Now, when used as a leader, I have nothing negative to say at all. It is just as strong as any other fluorocarbon line I've used. Tied palomar and clinch knots with ease, and strong knots at that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PKB1 Great line for price
This line is as good as any other fluor I have ever used and I have used a lot. The price is just a benefit I think people are tying bad knots its not mono. with that said I don't like it on spinning tackle over 10#.

First time using fluoro, Really wasn't sure what to buy, and this was on sale. Bought a spool of 12 lb. from large sporting goods store, after reading all the great hype on the box.
Putting on spinning reel it was so stiff that it would pop off like a slinky.( Line was spooled on in the right direction). On 1st cast line bird nest in the top guide. Thought maybe I had to much on the spool. Took roughly 1/8 of the line off, and the same results over and over again. Noticed the line had thousands of tiny indents, and was very rough, like it was pulled tight on the roll before cooling. Line was actually grabbing it self during cast, and pulling extra lopes off. By end of outing I had just enough line left on reel, to use as backing for some new braid.
I gave this 2 stars because I didn't have a problem with knot strength, with as many times I had my lure snapback at me.
Also I've used the rest of the spool for leader material, 4-6ft long with no problem.
