I decided to give the 4 lb Stren Fluorocast a try as a leader line for Trout fishing. Had 4 nice 3 to 4+ pound trout, (Nebraska Tailwalkers) take the line into the weeds quite a few times during the fight, with no line problems what so ever. I was also getting more strikes than anyone around me. I gave it 5 stars for holding up the way it did.

First time using fluoro, Really wasn't sure what to buy, and this was on sale. Bought a spool of 12 lb. from large sporting goods store, after reading all the great hype on the box.
Putting on spinning reel it was so stiff that it would pop off like a slinky.( Line was spooled on in the right direction). On 1st cast line bird nest in the top guide. Thought maybe I had to much on the spool. Took roughly 1/8 of the line off, and the same results over and over again. Noticed the line had thousands of tiny indents, and was very rough, like it was pulled tight on the roll before cooling. Line was actually grabbing it self during cast, and pulling extra lopes off. By end of outing I had just enough line left on reel, to use as backing for some new braid.
I gave this 2 stars because I didn't have a problem with knot strength, with as many times I had my lure snapback at me.
Also I've used the rest of the spool for leader material, 4-6ft long with no problem.

Decided to give fluorocarbon line a try and have never had issues with Stern mono so I figured stick with it and put 8lb on my spinning reel. It does cast way better than mono and fishing light lures is nice cause you can get good cast distance still. But it's strength rating is questionable. I have yet to lose a fish, knock on wood, however I have lost a lure while making long casts. Only time I have ever had that happen was throwing too big a lure for 4lb test when I was a kid. And the lure I lost was only a 1/4 chatterbait...so...ya. I do not recommend this product.
