Rated 5 out of 5 by KKSD Excellent For Leader Line
I decided to give the 4 lb Stren Fluorocast a try as a leader line for Trout fishing. Had 4 nice 3 to 4+ pound trout, (Nebraska Tailwalkers) take the line into the weeds quite a few times during the fight, with no line problems what so ever. I was also getting more strikes than anyone around me. I gave it 5 stars for holding up the way it did.

Not sure why people are reporting issues with this line. I fish it in 8LB on a spinning reel with absolutely no issues.
I have brought muskie as well as monster bass in on it and not had any "bird nesting" as some call it nor have I had problems with lure break offs during casting or getting my fish in.
You need to have good quality fishing gear and it needs to be maintained correctly. If your inserts on your guides are damaged, it will cause nicks or abrasions on the line which weakens it severely. That's not an issue of the line, it's an issue of your inferior and improperly maintained equipment.
You need to check your line for wear every few fish. ESPECIALLY FROM THE KNOT going up a few feet. You can't just use and abuse this line. It is not for fishing in really rough cover or around dense structure.
Know what you are doing before you buy this product. Have quality and correctly maintained gear before buying this product.

After years of using mono fishing line, I figured to get more modern and try something new. So I bought some of this line in 10# test. I read some of the reviews and all the bad things people had to say are true. The third cast I had a rats nest. i cut that off and tried again and again a mess. So i cut that out again and tied on a spoon i have had for years and cast that and watched the spoon keep going because the line broke. I came home and put Sten orginal mono on and will never try fluorocast again. I wish I could have rated it negative stars. Stay away and save your money

Rated 3 out of 5 by Rippinthemlips A little stiff, but great leader line
My normal go to fluoro line is Berkley Vanish or Berkley Trilene 100% fluorocarbon. Only couple of my freshwater spinning reels are completely spooled with fluoro line, otherwise I normally use fluorocarbon line as leader. My reel was due for new line anyways so I stripped all the old line, then put Stren fluorocast line on. I'd have to say, it is slightly on the stiff side by the way the line would coil off the reel like a spring when I opened the bail. Now, when used as a leader, I have nothing negative to say at all. It is just as strong as any other fluorocarbon line I've used. Tied palomar and clinch knots with ease, and strong knots at that.
