I love this gun. I own several handguns but the Cougar is my favorite. Very accurate and comfortable. If you are going to own only one handgun the Cougar would be a good choice.

I bought my Stoeger Cougar 9mm on March 1, 2013. I loved the way it looked and felt. I took it to the range, and it shot so far to the left I wasn't even on the paper. I thought it was just me at first, but after a few more trips to the range it was apparent that it wasn't me. At that point I really gave the sights a good hard look and noticed that the dovetail slot for the front sight was manufactured improperly. It had a high spot on one side that caused the front sight to be tilted. I contacted Stoeger, and they had me send it to them for repair under the warranty. When I received my gun back from them, the sight was still tilted (but it tilts the opposite direction now), and the front sight and slide were marred up. They had tried to hide the marring by using some kind of touch up paint, but they used a paint that has a gloss finish to it. My gun is matte finish black, so the marring is highlighted by the paint they used. I sent them a two and a half month old gun that was flawless except for the tilted sight (It cost me $80 just to ship it to them), and I received a marred-up gun that still doesn't shoot straight back from them. I have attempted to contact them, but they have ignored me thus far. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint. They have yet to respond to the Better Business Bureau. Stoeger seems like make a nice gun, but their quality control is horrendous and the quality of their warranty repairs is even worse. If you search the internet you will find many people complaining about their poor quality control and terrible service department / repairs.

I have owned a Stoeger Cougar 9mm for about three years. I've put a lot of rounds through the pistol and have never had one feed problem or malfunction of any kind. Probably one of the best pistols you can get for the price. Great for everyday carry.

I have shot Rugers, Glocks, and Kahrs, and the Cougar outdoes them all in my hand. Felt recoil is less and easier to bring back down for follow-up shots. Solid, tight fitting, eats any ammo I have put through it with no FTE or FTF. Very easy to strip and clean. Best value on the shelf when you are looking for a gun that can be used for ccw, but also big enough to go to the range and shoot.
