Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome purchase After reading negative reviews on other blog sites in regards to the use of hydrofoils, I was a bit skeptical that piece of plastic worth under $100 would make a big difference in the handling of my boat. I own a 16ft Legend with 90 hp four stroke, with a very heavy motor (375 lbs) on the back end, I would have to really gun it to get on plane, also on windy days where the water was a bit choppy the boat would porpoise quite a bit. I contemplated purchasing trim tabs or go with least expensive solution, in the end I opted for the hydrofoil since I had limited space on the transom due to 2 transducers. Installation was extremely easy, Being worried that the hydrofoil which is friction fit and held in place by two pressure screws, I taped in place with 2 small strips of automotive VHB tape (see red arrows in pics), so far I had it on the water 5 times since installation, hydrofoil hasn't budged one bit and what a big difference in the ride, I'm plane on lower speeds, virtually eliminated porpoising and gained 2 MPH top end, speed is now 45 mph, I can't believe how much nicer the ride is, so far Im totally satisfied with this product and not to forget the lifetime warranty to boot, can't go wrong! Rated 4 out of 5 by Tight fit.. loss of speed but still good I own a mercury 50hp efi outboard. When It came to install i had to remove the torque fin... once that was removed i attempted to slide hydrofoil which slide on well.. but when i tried to reinstall the torque fin it would not fit... had to cut some plastic in order to install.. once on the lake I noticed the it right away... kept the boat flat right away... as for saving gas I didn't notice a difference.. and last but not least I did notice a decrease in speed.. not a huge amount (2mph) might be caused from the modification i did? Rated 5 out of 5 by Stingray Hydrofoil- Big Difference Put on my aluminum 18 ft. Klamath which has a Mercury Bigfoot 60hp. Took boat out to Delta in windy and choppy conditions. Wow, what a difference! Came up on plane faster without the bow pointing to the moon. At cruising speed and trim the bow is noticeably lower so the bow now cuts thru the waves and ride is a lot smoother. Before the slightest chop would beat both my wife and I up pretty good. Now we were both comfortable in very choppy conditions. Easy to put on and was worth every penny. May drill holes to make it more permanent. April 8, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by easy install I put this on my Yamaha 40HP outboard for use on my 16' Xpress. It took 10 minutes to put on, the set screws are a little snug, make sure to use the provided loc-tite so they don't lossen up, great quality. I'm no mechanically inclined but if I put it on with no issues at all then anyone can. February 24, 2013

The size of your boat and motor will determine if a hydrofoil will help. For example if you have a heavy motor on the back end of a light aluminum boat you will most likely feel the difference since an overpowered boat has a tendency to bog down in the rear on takeoff by coming out of the water and not being able to slice through the waves which causes porpoising. If you have a smaller motor (15 hp) on a aluminum boat, the weight is pretty balanced and a hydrofoil wouldn't make a difference. After discussion on various boaters forums, most anglers that have115hp + motors didn't notice any difference in the ride. My suggestion, light overpowered boats with hydrofoil = yes.....proportionately set up boat motor to size ratio with hydrofoil = no.

Tes it will. I have a 2005 Mercury Bigfoot 60hp. fourstroke. Went right on. You have to remove your trim tab first. Make sure you mark the trim tab position with a grease pencil first to make sure it goes back on the same orientation. Made a huge difference on my Klamath 18 ft. boat. You will like it. Easy to put on too.
