Not as Advertised First of all, the Stingray JR WILL NOT FIT on a 2005 Mercury 4 Stroke 5 hp Motor. Secondly in the bass pro catalog it shows NO DRILLING needed, BUT you have to drill 4 holes in your cavitation plate, which Mercury Outboard will VOID your warranty if you do. Third: The maker of Stingray which is Marine Dynamics located in Kansas, offers no help whatsoever and just will tell you that their products will NOT FIT all OUTBOARDS but will not tell you which Outboard motors those might be. Overall, be warned that if your Motor is still on warranty, drill the cavitation plate could void your warranty check with your motor's manufacture, and know that possibly this product will not work on your motor... It is not a good value for the money... May 13, 2008
Works Great Installed the StingRay on Yamaha 115 on 20' center console. Boat was stern heavy and had issues with planning out...especially with full tank of gas and a couple of passengers. I can now run the boat at much slower speeds and remain on plane...boat handles chop and wakes much better and makes for a pleasent ride. This has got to be the best accessory I have ever added. Install could get a little tricky with lining up holes to drill and keeping stabilizer square....I actually drilled one hole and bolted the unit on with one screw and then used the stabilizer as the template to drill the remaining three holes. It works very well and saves gas too! I installed the Stingray on our Glastron SX175 with a Mercruiser V6 in about 20 minutes. It made an immediate change. When we take off, we plane-out almost immediately. We can now pull two adult skiers without wearing them out since they can get out of the water much faster. Going on-plane quicker has helped our gas mileage as well since the engine doesn't have to work as hard. Great product! July 11, 2006
Sting Ray Hydrofoil Stabilizer This product works! It installs in a matter of minutes and performance on the water is changed dramatically. My 18 foot boat with an I/O 4.3 liter MerCrusier planes off almost immediately now. I am looking forward to the difference it is going to make pulling two skiers out of the hole. Porposing has been completely eliminated and I added 5 plus miles per hour when trimming the motor at top end speeds. I also believe the ride is greatly enhanced with a much smoother ride in rough water. I have to admit I bought this hydrofoil stabilizer hoping it would help get me out of the hole a little faster when pulling up two skiers. I got a whole lot more! This product totally exceeded my expectations! October 19, 2006

A:
Yes, this will help while at top speeds. As a hydrofoil-equipped watercraft increases in speed, the hydrofoil elements below the hull(s) develop enough lift to raise the hull out of the water in order to greatly reduce hull drag. This gives a further corresponding increase in speed and efficiency of operation in terms of fuel consumption.

The Equalizer item numbers 38-560-364-01, 38-560-364-02, 38-560-364-03 is the part that is added to your Sting Ray Stabilizer (example 38-560-360-01). If you want a stabilizer order the SENIOR, which fits FITS 25-365 HP.
