I BOUGHT THE ROD SETUP FOR 4-10 # TEST. I WAS ALL EXCITED BECAUSE THIS IS MY FIRST BRAND NEW STAR ROD. I WALKED OUT OF THE STORE WITH IT AND I SAW HOW SKINNY THE TOP 3 INCHES OF THE ROD IS. I WAS FIGHTING A LADYFISH (ABOUT 2-3 POUNDS). IN THE MIDDLE OF FIGHTING , 2 INCHES DOWN FROM THE TOP IT SNAPPED. SO I JUST THOUGHT MAYBE THEY MANUFACTURED JUST THAT ONE WRONG, SO I WENT TO EXCHANGE THAT ROD WITH THE SAME ROD. WE TESTED THE NEW ROD IN THE STORE AND IT SNAPPED IN THE SAME EXACT SPOT.
AS LONG AS YOU DONT BUY THE 4-10 # LINE MODEL THE ROD IS GREAT

This rod is amazing. It is an incredible all around rod. It is strong, flexible, and good looking. I use it for bass on the lake, reds in the creek, and sea bass in the ocean. Nothing compares to it. I was hesitating at first but now am very happy I got it. It performs great. I have the SG816ISM model (7ft medium action 8-16lb) with a pflueger president (6740x). It is my go to and favorite combo. It is well worth the money.

The SS12201SS is the best Inshore rod I have ever used, and I have used and owned several. It has perform like a champ for over 3 years and the only thing I have done is replaced the tip guide which was damaged by jaming it into a ceiling. I paired it with a shimano symetre 4000FI and have caught ever thing from 33" snook, top of the slot snappers, bruising Bonita, and countless other species both from shore and from a boat. I would recommend this rod to anyone looking for a great inshore spinning rod that will not disappoint.

Considering the 7' medium heavy, wondering if anyone can help me with the distance from the bottom of the rod to where the reel mounts. Hope it's more than 8". Any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks1 of 1
