Great Little Radio With Alot Of Features At first I purchased the HX290 and although a good radio it was a little big to take on a Kayak. I returned it and purchased this model and glad I did. This unit has the usb charger which is great. You can charge it from your computer, solar charger, car or house. It weighs nothing the battery is small and I had it on stanby for 2 days without recharging. The speaker is very clear. The scanning tri watch is excellent. It transmits very well and receives just as well. The strobe light is great you set it that it flashes in different modes such as SOS mode. This is a perfect radio for wearing on a lifejacket all day. This unit does not have a GPS, the basspro marine catalog says it has a GPS, it does not have one. Great radio for kayakers that want some sort of emergency communication. January 15, 2013
