I'm in The Coast Guard Aux. I have tested radio and find it performed well. Make sure you enter your MMSI number correctly; you only get one chance or you must send it back to the factory to reset.. The polling feature is nice to to pole other boats and get their Lat/Lon. The on-board GPSR is nice. it is basic, but a bonus on a handheld radio. I have used Standard Horizon and Yaesu and have been happy with all.

I have used this radio, and fine the use, instructions, owners' manual, and features EXCELLENT!
I also love the main two features I bought it for - the "one button - emergency distress call, and that it floats. Easy to use and handle - and if a problem arises - it can come with you into the emergency floatation devise or into the water with you.
Highly recommended. And yes, you need a certificate to use it in Ontario - get the course.
