Simply amazing This has to be the best inshore rod I have ever owned. I have a penn conquer 4000 on the tidemaster 7'6" medium power fast tip rod. It is perfect fit. The rod holds lots of stress but yet still has enough whip to throw some of the lighest lure weights. The best rod you could buy is this one. I like the 1 piece shaft , some may have there own opinon but 1 pieces have a better feel to them. April 30, 2010
good rod I just got my 8' rod not to long ago, the first fish I caught was a 34" snook, it worked great as far as landing the fish, had enough give and backbone. The only bad thing I can say is it is not compatible with my Shimmano Stradic 4000 as far as balance goes. I have cheaper rods that feel much better with this reel and are less tireing to use, although they are 7" rods. So you might want the 7' if you use a Stradic. This rod left me tired after using, but for snook fishing you are constantly casting and retreiving, at least when using plugs. May 15, 2009
Tidemaster Rods I currently own 6 Tidemasters that are used for Striped bass (7' TIS70MF) and bluefish (TS66MHF). the 7 foot rods are extremely sensitive jigging plastics. I pair with 4000 stradics. The backbone of the rod is solid, with my largest Stiper to date on these at 44 lbs! the MH rods I use for larger fish, and have held up to small schoolie bluefins. July 26, 2008
Great Rod for Florida Inshore I like these a lot and feel I can trust a primay and a backup, to stand up to big fish. So if you are throwing Pinfish at snook, grouper, jacks, and run into tarpon you are good to go. I like the finishs, feel, strength, and durability. They cast great, and I can be very accurate with them and I am extremely satisfied, compared to others I have used and compared them to either myself or with guides. Good investment you can rely on for the price. July 24, 2008

I use a Penn Conquer 4000 and it works extremely smooth. If you choose you can cast 50,60 feet or more with ease, with a 5:1 retrival rate. I purchased both from "PRO BASS".

The Tidemaster is one of the best rods I have used. I fish up to 8 of these on my boat on any given day, and there is no rod with the backbone and sensitivity of these St Croix rods.

A:
I have owned the calcutta and it snapped after a few months of fishing in the gulf...never had a problem with st. croix..its seems to have more grunt to it. This has pulled in a 4 foot black tip with a penn conquer with 20# powerpro, the guides are in perfect condition and the braid has never even maked the guides. this was the best 170$ i ever spent on a rod! i highly reccomend you get it...best wishes and tight lines !

A:
Tidemaster rods have SCII graphite blanks which St. Croix ranks as mid-modulus. This
material produces rods that are highly sensitive, lightweight and durable. Tidemasters are outfitted with Baston Forecast hard aluminum guides with 316 stainless steel frames, Fuji DPS reel seat and premium-grade cork handle.
