Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by quality rod I use this rod for striper fishing, surf and on a boat. I have an 8' Med-Heavy single piece. Really good quality rod. Feels well balanced I use a Shimano 8000 bait runner with it. Not a fan of 2piece surf rods that is why I spent the money for this one. Gave it a 4 because of price. There are good quality rods that are single piece and two piece for much less. Shouldn't be so expensive becuase of the name. I do like the rod though. May 8, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice value in a rod I have a 7' 6" MLF and 7MF. Have used both rods for flats fishing and they perfom well. The fast action is a little light but it still is a very nice rob for the money. Over all a great rod for the $$$ January 10, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best rod ive bought yet The St. Croix tidemaster 7'0 is the best rod purchase ive made yet. The day after i bought it, i pulled in a nice 27" Redfish and the amazing strength and backbone these rods have is unbelievable. I love this rod! I put a Stradic 4000 reel on it. April 22, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Purchase Great rod, plenty of backbone for big bull reds yet sensitive enough for specks. There's a reason they call them "The Best Rods On Earth"! February 23, 2012

A:
For the most part, yes. Most all high end, high quality rods will be constructed with the intention of resisting the elements. However, it doesn't matter whether your rod is $400.00, or $40.00, you still need to practice good maintenance. That means washing down your rod with fresh water every time you come off the water.

A:
Choose a reel that feels good to you. There are so many options that go well with just about any rod. Go with the brands you like the most. For salt water try to stick with a reel of larger size than fresh water. Like a okuma trio s40. Not too small or too large. should be about the right size and wieght for any type of fishing.

I use a Penn Conquer 4000 and it works extremely smooth. If you choose you can cast 50,60 feet or more with ease, with a 5:1 retrival rate. I purchased both from "PRO BASS".

I do not believe it does. If you are interested in a traveling rod and want a St. Croix check out their web sight. They make quality rods and have many to choose from.

The Tidemaster is one of the best rods I have used. I fish up to 8 of these on my boat on any given day, and there is no rod with the backbone and sensitivity of these St Croix rods.

I have owned the calcutta and it snapped after a few months of fishing in the gulf...never had a problem with st. croix..its seems to have more grunt to it. This has pulled in a 4 foot black tip with a penn conquer with 20# powerpro, the guides are in perfect condition and the braid has never even maked the guides. this was the best 170$ i ever spent on a rod! i highly reccomend you get it...best wishes and tight lines !
