Designed specifically for the crappie, bluegill, and perch angler, the St. Croix Panfish Series Spinning Rod comes in a model to fit your fishing style. Choose from ultra-light and light powers, or longer models with moderate fast actions for anglers who enjoy dropping jigs into brush piles. Its blended graphites offer the optimal weight, sensitivity, and balance. Pack Bay Minima guides reduce weight 20-30% compared to ceramic guides, while providing greater sensitivity. There's even a custom reel seat for improved sensitivity and comfort.

I bought this rod hoping it would cast 1/64 jigs and be sensitive as well. I have not been disappointed. The rod, like all St. Croix rods, cast like a rocket. I own three St. Croix Avid ultra lite rods as well, a 6, 61/2, and a 7ft and this rod is just as sensitive if not more, and has twice the back bone. As far as it's sensitivity, there's a lot of crappie in the lake I fish and I can feel the lightest hit. The tip is incredible, and fighting a large fish, 3lbs. or more,
you can see the tip shut off about a third of the way down and the rest is nothing but back bone. It's unlike any ultra lite I ever fished with. The cork on the fore grip needs to be about 1 to 1 1/2" longer to have something better to hang onto and for balancing the rod better. This would increase its sensitivity. I've always been a big fan of the ss304 type guides and this rod is loaded with them. They transmit vibration better than ceramic guides. I'm hoping to get one or two more of these pan fish rods. They are great trout rods as well.

I bought the 7' one-piece rods and couldn't be happier. I cast 1/32 oz jigs with no problem and the action makes every big gill feel like a record book fish. My daughter uses them and casts light jigs and sets the hook with great enjoyment. It's about time people made quality panfish rods in lengths greater than 6 foot.
