Rated 5 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by one of the BEST I picked up a 2 piece 7 foot ultra light rod LES70ULM2. I matched that rod up with a Stratic CI4 2500 reel. Ultra nice, light, balanced walleye outfit.. This rod looks like quality, with a super strong backbone, yet very lightweight and SUPER sensitive!! If you can afford one ..... this is the rod to buy . 5 STARS. April 28, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by The best rod you can buy I've bought rods and reels from all over the place, and this brand BY FAR exceeds the quality of any other in my collection. I've purchased both casting and spinning models. You simply cannot beat the quality and durability, which makes it worth the price. They are tactic and species specific in the way that they are made, but when that is your focus, you pick the right one for the job. December 19, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Really Great Rod I have had this style rod for a few years. Never had any problems with it and it is the most sensitive, lightest and well built rod I have ever owned. I have been letting my friend use it before he actually gets a rod and reel. Boy is he in for a shock when he spends $60 and wonders why the rod is not performing as well. He nearly fell over when I told him how much one of these babies cost. If your going to only by one rod let it be this. June 15, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by No better rod This was my third St. Croix rod and it is the best so far. It has backbone and is still sensitive to feel a walleye nibbling on a piece of worm in 25-feet of water. This rod will change your fishing experience without a doubt. Forget the price, it's worth every penny and better than overpriced G-Loomis sticks. January 26, 2011

Don't!!!

Go with a med-heavy quality graphite rod or a tried and true ugly stick.

Even if it doesn't break, you'll have a heckuva time getting them landed in any good amount of time. As well, when you get up into the higher test lines, your rod may break before the line will. Always keep the line rating on the rod in mind for that reason.

A:
Medium Light rods are really designed for smaller species of fish (i.e. bass). If you are fishing for larger species such as flathead or blue catfish, you would want to use a heavy or extra heavy rod.

Done. Sounds good. You could probably get away with a 2500 series though with braid.

I'm opting to put together a light set-up: the St. Croix Legend Elite salmon stick 9ft 3/4 - 1 lure wt paired with a Pflueger Patriarch 35x.

Has anyone use the rod for drop shot or light surf fishing? Please share.

Thanks

Hey 90XRay,
First I would start with a Shimano, they are the best quality for the money and they will last as long as your rod. Second, depending on the length and action of your rod would determine the size of reel, 2500, 3000, or 4000. My best suggestion would be the new Shimano Stradic in the 3000 size, it is very affordable and would match up well on either the 6'8" or 7' length rods. If you have a shorter rod like a 6'6" or 6'3" then I would recomend the 2500 size Stradic. Hope this helps and good luck on the water!!!
Cheers, RB

It all depends on which model you have and what you're after. Bass? 6'6"? You can never go wrong with a Stradic. Casts well. The Ci4 is light. Pfleuger has a new Patriarch that sounds awesome and their supremes always get top marks.
