St. Croix® Imperial Fly Rods
Was stream fishing and hooked a nice 15" trout, loaded up my rod and it broke through in the second section. Have had better luck with cheaper rods. Bummed I made this purchase. Lasted for 5 days of fishing.

St Croix warrenty
I do not believe the person that said St Croix would not fix the broken tip of their rod. That is the first any ONLY negative thing I have EVER heard about St Croix. They replaced a entire rod for me just because ,,in my opinion, the tip wasn't perfectly straight. I am nit-picky like that,,someone else might have been totally happy. St Croix has the best warranty in the fishing business.

Buy it !!!
I just wanted to let those thinking about buying a St Croix rod to know that they will honor their warranty.
I bought the Avid which was the predecessor to the Imperial about 15 years ago. It broke while in the middle of a cast about a month ago it turns out it had a crack in the section were it fit into the furrral. I sent it back not knowing what to expect, to my surprise they sent me a brand new Imperial 4 piece 9wt to replace my avid 9wt. It is nice to know their are still companies out there that stand behind their products I would recommend them to anyone looking for a quality fly rod.

Want to have some fun catching trout in small mountain streams? Well, this is the rod for you. Match it with an ultralight reel without drag and the fight is on. From feisty 6 inch natives to bulldog hatchery released brood mares, this rod can deliver the joy. It will bend itself in half without breaking and make every fish feel like a trophy. Landed an almost 7 pound monster without killing her from fatigue and whooped out loud while catching 9 inch rainbow jumpers that felt like 2 pounders. Only drawback is that ultrafast action makes it difficult to throw a fly very far and rollcasting requires more speed and effort to be effective. Definitely a rod for small waters.
