Taking the performance and safety of the XD pistol line to the next level, the Springfield Armory XD(M) .40 S&W Pistol delivers improved ergonomics, handling, precision, and accuracy. Packing all the features of the high performance XD pistols, the XD(M) features modified grip contours, molded interchangeable backstraps, grip panels, and deeper and longer slide serrations for better and easier handling. The XD(M) combines a polymer frame, Melonite®-coated forged steel slide, and fully supported ramp 4.5'' barrel for long lasting durability and reliability. Triple-position Picatinny rail readily accepts lights, lasers or other accessories. Visual and tactile indication from the gun's loaded chamber indicator and striker status indicator help you use the gun more effectively in any lighting condition. The XD(M) also takes the great grip angle of the XD's full length polymer grip and modifies the contours slightly for natural pointability and a sure handle for maximum vertical, horizontal, and torsion control. I have owned the XDM since it's introduction several years ago,& it is one of the sweetest shooting handguns I've ever used.The 16 + 1 capacity is reassuring in case things were to go south,& I have never experienced a jam in many trips to the range.How much do I trust this weapon?I'd bet my life on it!

A fantastic gun. With 16+1, it's a blast sending that much lead down-range with confidence. The match-grade barrel gives consistent groupings and accuracy over the long-haul. I've owned mine for over two years now and have shot well over 2,000 rounds through it without ANY jamming or incident whatsoever. I typically go with Winchester FMJ target ammo and have also shot some home-defense rounds through it to get a feel for the difference in loads. A real joy to shoot. The way this gun performs, it feels like it's worth at least twice what I paid for it.
