Spiderwire EZ Braid Line
both 15 and 30lb line kept breaking on hook set
I am an avid fisherman in South Florida. After years of friends telling me the virtues of braided I decided to finally try it. I picked up Spiderwire EZ braid in 15 and 30lb for my baitcasters. I must say I am very disappointed. Both have broken at hook set and even while casting. I have tried Palomar and Improved Clinch thinking it was me. It doesnt matter which knot I tie they both have been below acceptable in performance. I have lost top water lures, shallow water cranks and swim baits. not counting the expensive Gamakatsu hooks.

A new braided line that wont break the bank!
Spiderwire’s new E-Z Braid gets a big thumbs up from this angler. I recently received my order of new braided line from Bass Pro and am happy to report that the new E-Z braid dose everything one might hope for in a supper line and is priced far more reasonably then other braids on the market. $9.99 for 110 yards and at a really good price point $18.99 for 300 yards. This stuff is nice! Feels like no other supper line I have fished, sort of like a cross between mono and braid, and cast like a bullet. I fished it today in very tough conditions working deep diving jerk baits in cold water and heavy wind, something that will put any braided line to the test when it comes to loop knots and manageability, and I had zero problems. The 15 lbs test 4 lbs diameter line felt strong as I hooked a good chunk of structure and put it to the test in order to get my lure back. Spiderwire got it right with this stuff and it will soon be replacing all the fire line on my gear. Add it to you Christmas lists boys and girls.

About right for the money
EZ Braid is the most reasonably priced "slick" braid I've found, and performs about as you'd expect for the price. While having a slick rather than braided texture, the line is quite sticky on the reel spool and therefore casting and free-lining suffers. However, this is mostly a minor to moderate fault, as the line is super tough, has excellent abrasion resistance, and still outperforms the bulk of line available on the market.

At first this was great line, I bought the 15 and 20 pound test. After a few uses the dye came off very easily and the line snapped while casting. If you want to re-spool after every 3rd trip or so then this stuff is for you. I now only use Power Pro Original and have had no issues with line breakage or lures snapping off while casting. The PP has faded a bit, but not like the Spiderwire where the color comes off on your hands, rod, reel etc. This is cheaper line than PP and it shows. Buyer Beware!
