Smith & Wesson® M&P9 Full Size Pistol
Great gun, my primary home defense gun..
This gun is great. Feeds/shoots every brass ammo I have ever put in it (about 2500 rounds so far). Very reliable. Hold the gun properly and it will never have failure to feed, fail to fire, or failure to eject. It shoots about 1"-1.5" groups from 10 yards all the way 30 yards with my experience from using it overtime.
However, I will say it has some flaws that S&W could improve on. The trigger is very sloppy. It has a confusing reset point. Definitely upgrade to an aftermarket trigger such as Apex if you can. The gun comes with different replacement size grips. If you find out which of the three works for you, it'll make you more confident with gripping the gun, which is a plus. It feels great in your hand and not so bulky as my Glock 23 does. S&W makes the gun very easy to breakdown and clean. I clean it after every range session and it has never failed me once.
Overall I trust this gun with my life, which is why I keep it as my primary home defense gun loaded with hallow points.
Gave 4 stars only because of the trigger pull/feel. Otherwise it'd be a 5.

After a 6-month long search for the best handgun for me and its intended protection/defense uses it came down to 3 choices for my first handgun. It was not until I went in and handled all 3 that I decided the feel of the gun in my hand and the Smith&Wesson M&P-9 was for me. Good balance, nice fit, and the slide lock on both sides was an added bonus. First trip to the range and all 100 rounds hit the target and there was very limited kick or sway, then a basic handgun class where it went great! Shot 200+ rounds without a single problem, and the instructor even gave it a few shots and proclaimed it was a great engineered gun and a great choice. Now my wife wants a S&W M&P-22 as her first gun.

This was my first handgun so I naturally have an affinity for it. It shot straight out of the box when I bought it 4 years ago and still does.
My only complaint is that it is a little hard to conceal. I have looked at the compact version, but that is too small for my hands. So, I am going with a GLOCK 19 for my concealed carry. After having shot both I still like the feel of the M&P better...I just wish S&W made a size in between their full size and their compact.
Overall a great gun!
