The Smith & Wesson Governor combines power and versatility to make the ultimate home defense handgun. Smith & Wesson designed the 45 caliber bored Governor to fire a wide variety of ammunition: 410 shotshells, 45 Colt, and 45 ACP (it will also accept 45 GAP and 45 Schofield). Add the assortment of 410 shotshells available—birdshot, buckshot, slugs, and specialty defense loads—shooters opting to own a Governor should never be out of ammunition. With a main frame made of scandium alloy, the Governor weighs no more than a standard service revolver, and has proved exceptionally pleasant to shoot. True to all Smith & Wesson revolvers, the Governor has an excellent trigger, with a smooth, non-stacking double-action pull, and a single-action pull that breaks clean and crisp. The Governor comes with a rugged, point-and-shoot rear sight, and a dovetailed, black, ramp front sight. For shooting 45 ACP rounds, Smith & Wesson supplies each Governor with 6-round moon clips, along with 2-round sectional clip segments that allow for a mix-and-match assortment of loads. Loaded with stout 45 Colt loads, or even 45 ACP, the corrosion resistant Governor makes an ideal gun to carry outdoors for protection against bear.
