Rated 4 out of 5Â by Fisherman209 Great boot for the price
I was in the market for wading boots for float tubing. I was just looking for a boot that got the job done and didn't break the bank. I own a lot of Simms gear, because of their guarantee and quality. So naturally, I wanted a pair of Simms boots.
I picked up a pair of the Blackfoots and they get the job done for my purposes (float Tubing). Not the most comfortable if you are going to hike all day in them. They fit very well into kick fins as the toe area is not very tall or bulky.
Not a bad pair of wading boots for $99.

Performs well, good ankle support. I recommend buying a boot one-size larger than what you normally wear. I wear a LK wader and I bought size 12 boot, but my foot felt squeezed after some time in the water. I should have bought a size 13.

I bought these boots back in March and they look like they are about 3-4 years old. Most of the black vinyl has worn off and the substrate is showing. However; I have used them about 50 times in about 7-months.
I chose the rubber bottoms to help comply with any invasive specie issues. However; that was a bad idea. I fish mostly tailwaters in East TN and these soles are super slick. I have fell more times with these boots this year than I have with felt-soles the past 10-years combined.
Also; the sole is not very flexible. So; you feel like you are trudging along when walking.
Simms is a great brand; but, this boot needs some redesign.

I got these because Maryland has gone to the no-felt soled shoes for wading and I've been very happy with my old Simms.
Same fit and finish as my old Simms.
My concern is the stitching on the welt.
A fair number of the actual stitches are not recessed into the sole of the shoe, so as you walk, you're walking straight on the stitching.
I speculate that these are not a true Norwegian welt and likely glue is the true bonding agent, but time will tell.
Other than that, the rand is nice, the Vibram rubber is nice and sticky. For $100, you won't go too wrong!

I made several hikes up to 3/4 mile with no discomfort. Should do well. I don't know about loose gravel, was walking packed dirt and grass.Details:Â
