Winner, Best Hard Lure Award at ICAST 2010!

  • Aerodynamically designed to cast long and fast
  • Unique, waxy 'fins''
  • Swims in zigzag fashion
  • Erratic side kick-outs
  • Deadly on all species

Check out the hottest swim jig in saltwater. Aerodynamically designed to cast long and fast, the Waxwing has unique, waxy 'fins'' that make the jig swim in zigzag fashion, with erratic side kick-outs that trigger even reluctant fish to strike. Deadly on all species. Length: 4.65''.

Shimano Waxwing System
Can you imagine a lure so deadly, they’ve built an entire tackle system around it? Here it is! The Waxwing is a flying bullet of a subsurface swim jig—ultimate speed, distance, and power all in one. Fish of all species smash it with abandon. Yes, you’ll catch fish…but to get the most out of this super-efficient technique, a Waxwing Rod and a Curado® 300EJ baitcaster together give you a huge advantage. You’ll outcast and outfish your buddies by a wide margin, and have a ton of fun in the process!

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good product Took it fishing and worked great in the Kelp. Didn't get caught up like others. April 2, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great action There are plenty of surface "walk the dog" baits that you have to twitch in rhythm. This does the same thing and all you have to do is reel fast. Great, wide, side to side action with lots of flash. Casts like a dream and runs about a foot under the surface. August 29, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Shimano Rules.... Again I am a diehard freshwater striper fisherman, but I travel offshore a couple of times each year. I went to Louisiana to catch some tuna and took along several waxwings. Blackfin tuna would not leave this lure alone. Barracuda like them as well. We caught most of our yellowfin trolling so I didn't get a chance to feed them the waxwings. I expect the hybrid stripers and stripers will react the same way. March 12, 2011

A:
At least 3 oz. I cast it easily with a heavy musky rig. It sinks of you're not reeling. Didn't use it as a jig. runs with a side to side action like a "walk the dog" bait, but all you have to do is reel. Hooks appear to be 5/0

A:
The lures will float to the surface if you stop trolling.
Don't know the size of the treble hooks are off hand, but they're in proportion to the lure.
