I have owned one of these reels since 1985. It is the most durable, dependable, universal, easy to maintain reel I have ever owned. I caught a 58 lb king salmon in Alaska with it, a 40 lb king mackeral in Florida with it and everything else small and large in between. It has never, ever malfunctioned or required repair. It is simply awesome. You cannot beat it for the money.

I've used this reel for 1 season and it's ok for the price. Great for drop shoting, and trolling, but not much distance on casts, tends to BN if im using M/H iron. If your looking for a basic reel for low $$$ then this is a good buy. I would spend the extra $50 and get a Daiwa Sealine 20 or 30, which works great for drop shoting, trolling, and casting.

This series reel is inexpensive but I would put it up against any reel (at any price) in its line class for operational durabillity. I have used 4 of these reels for five hard years of fishing wrecks for blackfish and both jigging and live lining for stripers and blues. All they ever get is a fresh water rinse and I have not had a failure yet and are still corrosion free. The smooth drag is bullet proof and although not glamorous the spool bushings are indestructable. It's not really a casting reel but it will still cast weighty jigs fine and for a staight up and down reel I dont think it can be beat. The price makes this reel a score!

This is my first round baitcast reel for saltwater. Very Smooth casting. Smooth retrieve. Only one birds nest on the first cast. I put 30# Red Cajun Line on the reel and it holds up great to 30-40# fish. I would recommend this reel to anyone, no matter the skill level.

is this a good reel for beginners like me learning to cast and can you compare it to a tld

If you are a biginner I would not use this reel to start out with, get one with a narrow spool for casting.A:Â
You're going to have to start somewhere. Read about adjusting the spool and star drag for casting and it will lessen your frustration. I'm happy with its casting performance. From my seated position in my kayak I can cast 80-90' depending on the weight of what I'm casting.A:Â
Personally I wouldn't blow this much money on just a reel if I was learning. I would spend the money on a smaller bait caster reel combo and learn from there. Principals are the same. Master the basics and then go bigger.A:Â
I have used this reel in international casting compatitions, I didn't win but it was my first time competeing at that level(187 yds) just took out the level winde. there are no bearrings so the spool doesn't get away from you to fast. I also use this reel for plugging all over the south pacific. great for biginers.Details:Â
how much braid line can the tr100 and tr200 holdAnswers
A:Â
I back fill my tr200s with 40 lb mono, because 5-600 yards of braid can get expensive. I usually fill my spools about half way, and still have no problem getting 300 yards of power pro 65lb on.A:Â
Depending on the poundage on the braided line. I Know 100lb test for Power Pro is equivalent to 20lb test mono line.Answers
