Unbelievable!!! When I bought the Shimano Trevala, I was skeptical that it would have the backbone to fight anything much bigger than the Butterfly jig I was planning to fish.....30 LB yellowtail later, I'm a believer. This rod was amazing - ultra light but plenty of backbone to fight a strong fish. Incidentally, the yellowtail ended up being a jackpot fish so in a way, it paid for itself. Great product. A:
It does not have a metal seat, but we have caught many large sharks on the 65-180 Lb class rods with Penn TRX 200 and 300 Reels. You will be amazed at the rods size Vs backbone. This rod will dominate your rod rack and you may even start sellin off the others. I use a 30-80 Lb rod with a TRX 100 for everything from bait (Cigar minnows and craokers, to snapper/Kings, and even grouper. The 65-180Lb rod has a TRX 200 and I have pulled many 150-200Lb shark along side for release. I carry no other rod or reel than these two now, the others collect dust.

The Shimano Trevala series rods come with a "Limited Lifetime Warranty". But there high quality and TC4 blank construction is even a better guarantee that it will not be failing all too soon!
