Rated 4 out of 5Â by jbelow Between an Ugly Stick and High end graphite
If you would like a rod that is tuff as an Ugly stick and almost as nice as high end graphit rod. TC4 is a good step above Ugly stick Lite. Teramar rods are beautiful with nice cork and superior guides. The only reason that I give this rod 4 stars is because of price points. This rod is twice as nice as an Ugly Stick but yet cost a $100-$110 more and not catch fish any better.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by ElGordo great rod
This is the second of these rods that I own. Light in weight and lots of back bone. I've fished the Sea of Cortez in baja, inshore in San Diego and fished the waters of the Colorado river. Worked great in every situation.

I have a Quantum Energy model E101 SPTS on my 8' rod. It's identical to the Energy bass reel except for the Saltguard finish. I am very happy with this combo. If you prefer a larger reel, the 300 series Curado is an excellent choice. Like anything else, whatever you're comfortable with is what you should use. I hope this is helpful to you.1 of 1
