Bought another TLDII to fill out the lineup, my 2nd TLD 20. The 20 is probably the best in the series as far as ergonomics. With Spectra backing you have ample room and power to fish 40 or 50lb for any tuna under 100lbs. Unlike the 30 which is where the reels width starts to create side to side torque as you reel under pressure from a fish, the 20 is narrow and does not hit you hard with the side to side torque. Like all tldII the drag is super smooth and never misses a beat. Light , easy to use with a now classic look

Rated 4 out of 5 by pescadorjj2 Another Shimano triumph
The Shimano TLD is a reel that I have used and enjoyed over the past 20 years. I have purchased 6 TLD's and had to repair only one, and it was very minor. They are all still in service. I find them to be rugged and dependable, fishing the waters of San Francisco, Mexico, and now in Panama. Big fish do not intimidate a Shimano fisherman! While I have not tried out my new TLD30II 2 speed reel, I am looking forward to more success in the second week of January 2013.

One of the best conventional saltwater reels for the price. This reel is solidly built and performs flawlessly. I do not feel I would need to spend more to get any better quality and performance. I use this for grouper and appreciate the 2 speed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by pshooks great bang for the buck
I have two TLD 50s and a TLD 20 and have been using them for the past three years without a hitch. The drag mechanisms are smooth and responsive and the graphite body is so much easier to handle than comparable steel models. A great performing reel. Highly recommended.

Which one would you go with?Answers
A:
Shimano, because in my 35 years of fishing Shimano, they have never let me down. I find Diawa quality to be very good but not as good and very comparable to Shimano pricing.Details:
I wanted to know if this model 20 2 Speed would be good if you made the brakes heavier on this type of reel.1 of 1
