I would like to pair a Shimano Stradic FJ Spinning reel (ST1000FJ) with a Browning Fishing Hi Power Spinning Rod (HP60LS). Are the two compatible? ie. will the rod holder of this rod PHYSICALLY fit the attatchment part of the Shimano reel? (I ask this because I have noticed that some reels have a 7cm x 1.5cm rod attatchment piece where others are only 5cm x 1.5cm.

My suggestion is if you already own this rod bring it into any local tackle shop and ask if you can try it on.

Most places will allow you to borrow the display model for a moment if you appear willing to buy.

I hope this helps

No, sorry no extra spool. It is worth it to buy an extra spool if you fish with braided line. When my braid gets worn I pop off the spool put on an empty extra one and wind it one.

That way the old braid is at the bottom and the new stuff is the only stuff that typically touches the water.

I hope this helps

A:
Do not put a $180 spinning reel on a $60 rod. Start with something comparable to a Shimano Compre or a Abu Garcia Vendetta. Extra dollars spent on the rod will enhance your fishing experience (and your success) more than spending dollars on a spinning reel.

I have mine on a 5'6" IM7 Berkley but the rod would really depend on your style of fishing. I would also pair this up with a bionic blade or the matching carbonlite. For something a bit less expensive perhaps a crappie maxx spinning rod on the IM6 blank. This is what I would purchase if I needed to replace the Berkley I currently have.

A:
The difference between the two reels are the 3000 has 15 pounds of drag while the 4000 has 20 pounds of drag. The 4000 has more line capacity, and also it is a bit heavier than the 3000. Other than that they are pretty much the same!
