Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Weight, Love the smoothness. This reel is one that I fight over in my head, I've got some drop shot rods that I use for finesse fishing. All the reels I have are 2500 series, and this is much lighter than any 2500 series reel by a longshot, I am on the fence on which rod to pair it up with.. I've got a drop shot spinning rod and a 7 ft medium rod that I use for throwing smaller cranks, spy baits, and other baits that are in the "in between" category for a spinner or bait caster. Either way I think this reel was one of the best investments I've made for my fishing career! September 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Spinning Reel This is the Best spinning reel I have ever used! So lightweight! I have the 2500 matched up with a G.Loomis IMX rod and I can feel everything with this setup! I have nothing bad to say about this reel, definitely worth the $ August 27, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Shimano Stradic CI4FA I am a Shimano snob. I own several makes and models from various years dating back to the old Magnumlite series. Some I've retired but keep for backups. I've had this reel for about a month and have had several chances to give a spin. Very smooth and quite. I expected nothing less from Shimano. I'm not sure it was worth the extra money but time will tell. I like the larger foam handle and hope that it holds over time. August 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by My #1 Reel I own this and the Quantum Smoke PTs inshore for my fishing Kayak and the CI4+ is my favorite. I have gotten spoiled by the weight (or lack of..). Perfect for repeated casting in my kayak. July 9, 2014

I have a 7'-6" Bionic Blade. Balance fits well with the reel and it looks good on the rod.

I like the St. Croix Avid spinning 7' Med-hvy / hvy action 5 handle (AVS70MHF). Lightweight and you cannot beat the lifetime warranty from St. Croix on that rod. If you want a more budget friendly rod you can go for the St Croix Mojo Bass rod. It is not quite as sensitive but its also half the cost and will still carry St. Croix quality.

I have mine on a G Loomis Gl3 medium light 7ft fast action. For fishing bass in slop I'd step up to Medium/Medium heavy. If you're not looking to spend the 240-some odd dollars on a rod, the Johnny Morris CarbonLite spinning rod is a fantastic alternative. Again, medium light-medium heavy depending on structure. The longer the rod, the longer the cast. I prefer a fast action rod because it ensures a stiffer tip with more backbone, whereas medium action will have a softer tip. Hope this helps!
