Rated 5 out of 5 by Top of the line !!! Hello all my friends, Thanks for spending your time reading this review, I will try to make it short and true. I currently own two Stella 5000, match them up with custom rods and 20lb. test braided line........you know what happens when you do it right?......I get absolute distance......casting miles....and I never had the feeling that I was one of the people who could throw that far on the pier. Shimano done it right.....BIG THUMP UP....will wait for more products from Shimano. Bass Pro Shop did really good on packing, I am very pleased with my last order of Stella......completely happy with that order :-). Again, I am not trying to help out either Shimano or Bass Pro Shop.....I am just sharing with you all about my own facts........ You have to try it to believe it!!!! It is pricey but worth every dollar of your hard earn money. I will stick with Shimano products guys......still can not accept Daiwa due to fact ....they use too much of cheap plastic for pricey products ??? Daiwa still does not make any sense to me.........but Shimano does :-) December 4, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by great reel i fish in salt water, in the bay islands off the coast of honduras. ive caught wahoo surfing with live bait with this 8000 reel and i would recomend it to anyone. January 7, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great reel, flawless drag... I use a Shimano Stella 8000FW probably around 4 to 5 times a week for bucktail fishing for large snook and redfish...and I have to say this year I've really put this reel through the ringer, and except for a few minor scratches it works perfectly...I used to buy a Quantum Boca 80 every year and even though I'd wash it down everytime, by the end of the year it was trashed...The Stella is as smooth as the first day I used it, great job Shimano.... The SW are sealed not allowing saltwater in. Also the SW are larger sizes. The smallest SW is the 5000 this is larger than most freshwater bass reels.

I recommend going on Shimano's and St,Croix's web site. They will explain each rod and the features that will be a benefit for the type of fishing you do. i.e.do you fish from a boat? Do you use live bait? Do you use jigs? I use both St.Croix and Shimano rods and they are both great quality. They will explain each rod and the line test recommended, lure weight, and any other questions you need answered.
