Shimano Sahara FE Series Spinning Reel
Been working for a Japanese Robotics manufacturer for 25 years. For reliability, durability, and repeatability they are the Kings with miniature mechanics. This applies to the Shimano's. I purchased the 2500 and 4000 on sale for Kayak bass fishing and I could not be happier. It's the quality of the bearings not the qty that matters. My Shimano baitcasters are 15 yrs old and they are still my "go to" for power fishing. Get yourself some.

Shimano Starting to Disappoint
I got back in to fishing about a year ago. Over the year I have purchased 5 different models of Shimano reels and 3 have already failed me. The Sahara has been the biggest disappointment. Its was the most expensive of them and yet the lowest quality. Yeah, I don't know how that works. Its has less bearings than the others and for some reason doesn't utilize Shimanos 1 piece bail system. Therefore, its no where near as smooth as the Sedona or the Sienna, which are both much cheaper in price. And you guys can probably guess the next issue... THE BAIL. It didn't take much for it to separate from the roller. Shimano does sell the replacement parts for these but I'm going to be putting my money in to another manufacture.

Good overall reel
I got this reel to go along with my 7' shimano teramar. This reel is very smooth and casts excellent. I have the 3000 model and it holds plenty of 20lb braid. the only complaint I have about this real is occasionally it gets glitchy and gets stuck when you first try and reel it after a pause. its not a huge issue but it is a bit of a bother... overall 4 stars

I have had this reel for about 3 years and have loved it ever since. I fish for bass in ponds and for fish of the ocean shore! Great purchase for beginners all the way to experts...
