I have purchased 7 of the 4000 model reels and use them constantly in salt water. For the money, they are very reliable and easy to use. Several of my pals who I take fishing use these reels and they have experienced no problems. The quick cast feature is a plus and I have found the drag to be adequate. It is a smooth, lightweight and surprisingly strong reel.
It performs as well as my Quantum spinner that I paid over $130.
We drift for halibut, sand bass and scorpionfish using only lures. The technique requires that the angler lift and drop the lure as the boat drifts. I use a level wind reel for this, but one of my buddies uses the 4000 reel. He constantly grinds the lure up and down using the quick cast feature. The reel holds up for about a year and then I have to tighten a few screws and he's back in business.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ram4bass Ridiculous price..great performance
I purchased two of these reels (2000&4000) to throw in a travel fishing kit because of the price and reviews. Well, let me tell you....these things are smooth and durable. I have taken them on at least 6 trips and landed over a dozen cats and they work flawlessly. I have yet to land anything over 5 lbs yet, but for the casual fisherman and the AVERAGE fish...this works great.
The do NOT like two things....one of which is easily fixed. First, the trigger fast fire. This may be great for some (especially handicapped), so I can understand it....but I don't think it works as well as traditional manual opening of the bail. Fortunately it can be removed and works fine without it.
Second, the anti-reverse engages at only one point in the rotation of the spool which makes tightening of the line a less accurate affair. Given the price, not an issue.
Long term I cannot say how these reels will hold up, but even if they work for one long season, it will be worth it. Don't buy one...but several!
