  • X-Ship for great gear durability
  • SVS Infinity Brake System
  • Shimano Stable Spool Design
  • 5 shielded A-RB anti rust stainless steel ball bearings
  • 1 Super Stopper Anti Reverse roller bearing
  • Escape Hatch for easy access to spool
  • Power AL aluminum frame
  • Super Stopper Anti Reverse
  • Super Free Spool
  • Cross Carbon Drag
The newest iteration of Shimano's incredibly popular Curado baitcasting reel includes major improvements that will increase casting distance, braking performance, and hard-fishing durability. X-Ship provides increased gear durability, improved performance with lighter lures, and longer casts. An externally-adjustable SVS Infinity braking system gives you the ability the precisely adjust your cast, even with lighter lures, and Shimano's Stable Spool Design virtually eliminates spool vibration and improves consistency of rotation and smoothness exponentially. Other advantages include 5 ball bearings and 1 Super Stopper Anti Reverse roller bearing; Power AL aluminum frame; Super Stopper Anti Reverse; Super Free Spool; and Cross Carbon Drag. This reel can be fished in both freshwater and saltwater.

X-Ship
X-Ship provides improved gear durability. By supporting the pinion gear on both ends with bearings, the pinion gear maintains precise alignment with the drive gear. This means the gears will stay in the same position under the heaviest loads. The added benefit is that friction between the spool shaft and gear is eliminated, enhancing the casting performance with lighter lures, and allowing for longer casts.

SVS Infinity
Shimano’s newest innovation in brake system technology, SVS Infinity provides easy-to-manage, consistent spool control and brake force on the new Curado I series baitcasting reels. With brake weights that use ‘inner friction’ against the raceway during the cast, SVS Infinity controls spool speed especially when using lighter lures, plus the external adjustment knob provides for quick, precise adjustments for either the conditions or when you switch baits. Combined with X-Ship Technology,
anglers will experience precision cast control.

Shimano Stable Spool Design (S3D)
Shimano’s S3D technology leads to significantly reduced spool vibration. By designing a balanced and uniform thin wall aluminum constructed spool, S3D creates an incredibly smooth feeling when casting and retrieving lures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Purchase Experience I bought two of these reels for my husband from the Springfield Store, the reels are perfect, exactly what he wanted. The Customer Service at this store is Excellent! Thanks! March 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by It's New It's Hot I Found One!! Walked into BPS tonight (2/28/2014) looking for line. To be honest my local BPS (Ft. Myers, Fl.) is focused mostly on Salt Water gear. Decent selection of Bass gear but this is a Florida Gulf tourist town and the selection reflects it. Walked past the reel counter and glanced in the case and what was sitting there but a nice new Curado I. WOW!!! I'd heard it would be a little bit until we would get our hands on one. This as it turns out was the ONLY one they had and the Kid at the counter had NO idea what it was. "I fish a spinning reel when I go for RedFish" was his reply. Back to the house, grab an old Zebco out of the pile to use as a trade in(-$30-, Santa had given me a $30 gift card and out the door I go with a new Curado for about $ 120 out of pocket. Home, clean the Greasy Bearings with thinner, add a drop of oil and I was at the pond within the hour. It launches Red Eye Shads like rocks and the new brake system is pretty cool. Boy when those Shimano guys use their head they come up with some winners. February 28, 2014
