Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Top of the line reel This is my primary musky reel, and it has been nothing short of amazing. On a good week, I'll get out 3 times a week for a few hours. This reel has given me absolutely no issues after use for two years. It has proven to be very durable and well worth the money. If you are looking for quality worthy of the price you pay, without a doubt this is the BEST reel available for nearly all species in my opinion. February 27, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by shimano # 1 Bought this reel for saltwater use. Reel has nice drag with plenty of holding power. I own several 200 series curado's that I use for freshwater, so decided to give the 300 a try. As with all my curado's I love the reel. Only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because #1 Cost, #2 the oversize handle often trips the bail in midcast causing the bait to sling off. But I would definately recomment this reel....... just bring plenty bait. July 24, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice reel Nice solid reel, very durable, and smooth drag. Nice power handle and great for big saltwater fish. November 4, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Curado 300 EJ Rocks I paired my Curado with a Carbon Fiber Lite Micro-Guide Rod and headed for the Ocean. My first strike was a Barracuda; it fought, bent the rod and provided me with a lot of fun. After landing the Barracuda, I caught many Sculpin, Rock Bass and other bottom fish. I got a good strike from a Yellow Tail, but it let loose before the hook set. Bottom line, the Curado 300 EJ performed extremely well and provided maximum fun with frisky Barracuda. I used 30 # Pro Line and a topper of 30# mono. After three trips to the ocean with this set-up, I am convinced that the Curado 300 EJ is a real gem and I highly recommend it. After Ocean use, the reel must be rinsed off with fresh water and set out to dry. June 14, 2011

I notice that some of the curado reels and calcutta reels shows up under saltwater reels but not under freshwater reels. What makes the saltwater series different from the freshwater series?

I wouldn't use the Curado in salt water its definitely a fresh water reel even though Shimano says its saltwater safe I heard otherwise the round reels are more suited for this inshore is another story

All of Shimano reels are approved for use in saltwater. The Curado 300EJ was designed to work with the Waxwing jigs which were designed for saltwater applications. They do not list these reels on their website as freshwater or saltwater reels. They are simply listed as Low Profile or Round reels. Thanks!

Is the Curado 300EJ 6.9 to 1 gear ratio? According to the Shimano web site, the 300E is the one with 6.2 to 1 gear ratio, not the 300EJ. Which one does Bass pro have for sale the 300EJ or the 300E????

Thank you for your time!
