Rated 1 out of 5 by Boatbuilder Short reel seat
Don't know why the 1st reviewer gave this a 4* since he could not use it because of the short reel seat. I am giving any rod that cannot fit any reel a 1* if the reel I buy to go with it will not fit. This is just the manufacturer not meeting the needs of their customers and I'm tired of it. I had not bought Shimano rods till recently but were really impressed with a couple I had bought until this problem. No more, back to Ugly Sticks which I can depend on. Or maybe I'll try Star's but I'm leery of there breakage problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rob65 Great rod
Very pleased with this rod. Have only had 2 opportunities to use it but with the weather improving I'll be using it a lot. This rod is light weight for being 7'6" while not giving up any of power you'd expect in a medium heavy rod. It also sports a sensitive fast-taper tip. I'll be buying another soon.

I purchased this rod with a penn battle 4000 and threw 20lb braid on it. This set up is a great all around spinning rod for most of the desirable fish in southwest Florida (redfish, snook, tarpon, jack). I purchased the 7'2 MH so I had some extra backbone for fighting snook in the mangroves. I purchased this rod specifically because it was light and had great action so it was natural choice for artificial lures and soft plastics. I generally fish at the Naples pier during the day and on my buddy's boat at night hitting the deep glows and snook lights. This rod allowed me to skip under docks with no problem and pull in 25" snook like I only had bait on the end of my line. Great feeling. Couldn't be happier. And with the warranty I know I could pretty much put this thing in my garbage disposal and get it fixed or replaced for no cost to me. Perfect for what I'm doing.

I purchased this rod on line and a Pflueger President reel. Guess what. The reel foot would not fit in the rod seat. (BE ADVISED NOT ALL REELS WILL FIT THE ROD SEAT) Rod seat is too short for the Pflueger reel foot. I'm sure this Shimano rod is a great rod but unuseable with my reel. I returned the rod to Bass Pro and they were very understanding and helpfull in fitting me up with a St Croix Premier 7'H as a replacement at no additional charge. Needless to say I'm a happy fisherman. Now i'm off to the northern Calif. coast to do some serious fishing.
