10 specially selected A-RB™ stainless steel ball bearings turn brute fish mastery into an art form. The 1-pc. Die-cast aluminum frame is matched to a lightweight, A6063 aluminum alloy Lo-Mass™ Spool for precision startup/slowdown with virtually no flex. Internals include High Efficiency Gearing™, the Super Free™ system, VBS® centrifugal cast control and roller-bearing-supported Super Stopper® anti-reverse. Click-set Dartanium® drag; premium Septon™ paddles.


Shimano Calais 200APV or 200ASV
Beefed-up versions of the Calais 200A, designed for extra knockdown power when you need it most. The 200APV is the Power Version, equipped with a lower gear ratio and oversized paddle grips—great for tossing big baits all day and dogging down on lunker fish. The 200ASV is the saltwater version, designed to tame the cruisers of the flats with a deeper, larger-capacity non-drilled spool and the largest, most comfortable paddle grips available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Shimano Calais Baitcast 200a My wife bought me a shimano calais 12/22/99 and i am stil useing it I use it 75% of my fishing time. I fish bass touraments and prefish the lakes before each tourament. So 12/22/2010 she order me a second one from BASS PRO SHOPS. The frist one still works fine. I would put its performace a head of al other baitcasters. December 14, 2010

Yes..The Calais 201 is a left-handed model. The Calais 200 is right-handed.

Can someone please tell me what the color or finish is on this reel. Is it crome or a darker color or something different?

i have used this reel in the saltwater for the last two years and it has held up pretty good for me i rinse it off every evening when i am done fishing

The reel is fine in saltwater. However it must be cared for properly as any gear used for saltwater angling should be. The clean up process for everything from lures to rods and reels must be done the same day you get off the water. Properly cared for this Shimano will provide years of fishing pleasure for almost all inshore species.
