i got a jigmaster and a speedmaster and they are amazing and thinking about adding a calcutta to the mix but i like leightwieght fishing is this a good one and if not what do you perfer

That depends on what you call lightweight. The 200 is good for Bass, and the 400 is good for pike and small musky lures. You'll have to do the math with the fish you're after (saltwater I presume). 700 is really good for heavy lifting.Answers

I would personally go with a medium heavy or heavy action Shimano Terramar. If you are throwing heavy lures such as zara spooks or larger jerkbaits you will have no problem firing them a good distance on a stiffer rod that is at least 7 feet long. I would not suggest the Offshore Angler Gold Cup or the Ugly Stik Lite. The rods will not have the backbone to meet the rugged strength of the Calcutta.A:

I'm going to get either the revo toro in high speed or the calcutta 400b to pair with a st. croix 8'6" heavy premier musky rod. I like how the revo has a line recovery of 29.6 inches per handle turn, but the calcuutta only has 25. However I think the calcutta will stand up better to the abuse it would be put through while musky fishing. Also, both reels looked a little small on the rod, will this be a problem? Any other reel suggestins would be great. Thanks.Answers

I'd go with the Revo because it has better drags and it is a lot lighter, which will help out after slinging lures all day. It also sits low on the rod, which is much more ergonomic than a larger round reel like the Calcutta 400B.

Calcutta 400 for sure. Those things are bulletproof. I actually use a 200 on 10-15lb pike (hoping for 20's). I think the Torro would handle most of them but most would go with the Calcutta.Details:

any abu garcia round baitcasting reel. I have a 4500 with 15lb mono and a 6500 with 20lb mono and i can sling them both out a mile away, or it seems that far.

i have a 400 b and with a 12 foot st croix surf rod, 20 pound test and a 5 ounce sinker i can throw 95 yards consistantly with a throw every now and then that goes to 110-120 yards so if you have experience casting then yeah it will cast a really good distanceDetails:

i have had both reels and i must say the 400 b is a better reel. i clean my reels just about every time i get home from a trip and my calcuttas still performs like new i have had them for two years the gears stay more quiet casting stays the same and it just seems to me that the calcuttas have more cranking power. they cost more but to me the extra price is worth it. im not a muskie fisherman but im sure sharks can be tougher than a muskie i have landed 70 sharks with my reels with the biggest being 6 foot and never had a problem.

It has a slightly better drag and is more of a tank. If I had to pick one to last me a season, it would be the Shimano. However, I like the castability of the C4 slightly better. The C4 is half the price as well. I have two of both. I'd put my money on the Calcutta to last though.Details:
I want to put 65 pound power pro on the ct400b model. It says it has a spool capacity of 160 yards of 20 pound mono or 260 yards of 14 pound mono. (65 pound power pro = 16 pound mono.) How much 65 pound would it hold, and how much line should I buy?Answers

Honestly even though power pro says their 65# line is 16# diam it is closer to the 18# mark and as such you will get about 280 almost 300 yards of the stuff on te reel. be on the safe side and buy the 300 yard spool unless your useing mono as a backing or a top shot.

The 400 would work for casting large baits. I use a 200 for casting 1.5 oz pike lures. You'd need the 400 for heavier ones. But by all means, cast away! I think it comes with two handles. Use the double paddle for casting and put the single offset for power reeling while trolling.Details:

I really don't know Anything about grouper fishing, but the Calcutta CT700B is the most heavy duty calcutta model, so it would probably be best for grouper fishing.
