Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome RODS Great rod. Very light weight and strong....Typical uglystik tiger colors only drawback. Other than that, best rod you can get for the price. May 13, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best purchase for lower price Bought the 6'9 size to pair with my pflueger president 6750 saltwater edition. Really a great buy, the rod is lite but very strong, very sensitive, and casts well. So far i've used it 3 times and it's my rod combo i have with me from Fall to winter in the chesapeake. I use it with flourocarbin line and it's so sensitive. Great for casting jigs, bucktails, lures and swim shads. I've only used 1/2 oz or bigger so far. Casts 4 inch swim shads really well though. I use it for striped bass, red drum, speckeled trout, and flounder from shore and pier in the lower chesapeake bay. Exceptional rod for the price. Highly recommend that you take a look at it if your in the market for a new inshore saltwater rod. October 6, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great striper rod!!! Bought this rod for striper fishing, had a hard time getting it shipped to the Nashville store, but Basspro did me right after an unexpected delay in shipping. I pitch jigs with shad bodies in warm water disgharge of steam plants in middle TN, and this rod works well with jigs from 3/8 through 1 1/2 oz. It has good sensitivety, great power, and I don't think that it's possible to break it. I paired it with a Penn 560 Slammer, 30lb Sufix, and on my second trip hooked and landed 7 stripers, 1 over 20lbs that I had to crank the drag down and put alot of pressure on. This rod handled the stress of the fish in heavy current with ease. I highly recommend this rod and feel it will give you years of hard service. March 3, 2009
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Steel Head Rod This rod works excellent for Steel Head. It has a nice soft action tip for tossing just about anything you want and you have to be accurate when targeting Steel Head as they are very spooky. It also has plenty of backbone with a forgiving mid section once you have your trophy hooked. It has a foam upper part of the handle and a surf type tape on the bottom, it is the first time I have used this type of grip and it worked very well especially when wet. The rod was a lot lighter than I had expected since it is actually rated as a salt water rod but it works just as well for many freshwater application also. It has held up well and has the quality that the Ugly Stick is known for. November 15, 2007
