Rated 5 out of 5 by xcellent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! brought the 5'8" xxh rod for fishing for seabass, tilefish, & other deep water fish. paired with a penn fathom reel made fishing in +200ft of water very comfortable. only othe rod i would get is a terez but you cant beat this price. November 30, 2011
Rated 1 out of 5 by rod broke i bought this rod from bass pro on a friday and took it out saturday morning for some bottom fishing. 3 hours in the trip the rod broke in half with only 3 lbs of weight(fish and sinker). the rod is rated 80-130# line. i tried calling shakespear and cant reach a real person, but i can send them $10 + the rod to get a new one. i already have $70 + tax and 2 hours worth of gas in this rod!!! why should i have to pay $10 more. not happy with costumer service. Rated 5 out of 5 by highly recommeneded i ordered the 6'3" heavy action jigging tiger lite sight unseen as the local stores don't carry it. when it arrived, i was very pleasantly surprised at its light weight...i put it on the scale and it came out to 11.3 ounces but it feels and handles much lighter. i really like the size and contour of the EVA foam handles...feels much nicer than the thick, straight handles on most other saltwater rods. the trigger is kind of unusual in that it is swept back but i like having any kind of trigger on a casting rod. the action of the rod is little bit softer than i like for a deep jigging rod but this also makes the rod a lot more versatile for fishing rigs and the length is perfect. remove the foam buttcap and there's a nicely-finished aluminum gimbal for inserting into a fighting belt. i would easily think this rod costs more than it does. for the price, this ugly stick tiger lite can't be beat. Rated 5 out of 5 by GREAT ALL AROUND ROD This rod is the ultimate versatile fishing stick.I used it fishing bucktails with 20 oz of lead and it was strong enough to work well on blues and bass to 20lbs . A few hours later used it wiith 2 oz sinker for fluke .the ex heavy stickck was nice and short easy to transport and great for boat fishing.Idefinetly recomend this rod for boat fishining if you looking for one rod to do it all this is the one. A:
These rods are very versatile so I have several different reels on them - depending on the type of fishing I am doing. For albacore I use Tyrnos 10, for LingCod a Torium 16 and for Halibut a Diawa Seaborg 750. If we had Wahoo here I would probably use a Tyrnos 20...

A:
Ugly Stik Tiger rods are versatile rods that can be used with most baitcasting reel, which are better for bottom fishing and jigging. Reels with a closed face and line guide are used for working lighter lures and baits. Open-face reels without a line guide work better for casting or jigging because the line can be let out and retrieved more quickly. I hope this helps. Thanks

A:
Yes it works very well for shark fishing. I've caught sharks up to 4ft and waiting for bigger. I believe this rod would handle anything that I'm big enough to hang on to, and probably more then the strength I would have to land it by myself. You put a reel on it with 30lbs of drag and fight one free handed for 20-30 minutes and you'll see what I'm talking about!

Yes this rod can be used for shark fishing but I've caught sharks on all types and weight rods. To me it's more about how you handle the fish after it's on than the rod and reel.
