Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 23 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Flathead Rod I have 2 of the 7' M action rods. I use them for flatheads with big baits. They work really well for this purpose. Soft enough tip to cast big baits without tearing the hook out, but more than enough backbone to handle big flatheads. Pulled several 40+ lb. fish from cover with this rod. Great pair with like an Abu Garcia 7000 or Shimano Tekota 600. I really like the heavy duty eyes. For the money, this rod can't be beat. March 11, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ugly Stick These are the only rods i will ever buy. The will last and last and last. I like to fish for big cats in lake lanier and i have never had a ugly stick break while pulling in a ugly cat :) August 27, 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by Ugly Stick Rods These rods are heavier than the graphite rods but are virtually indestructible. They are certainly worth the money. July 31, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by What a great value Every year I take kids fishing that never fished in their lives. I buy a few rods and reels so they take them home as well. I am not rich but I do know that they will keep their rod and reel in memory and its a great thing to see them grow up over the years. I used to buy packaged combo sets in the $50 range. Rod and reels by SouthBend and such and noticed that the reels may last a couple of season or so and the poles last about the same length of time even with maintenance. About 5 years ago, I started buying Ugly Stiks and the rods always return in good usable condition. My son's grade school class kids are now in college, soldiers or moved to other states and only a few of them are around to jump into my boat and go fishing now. Yes, I have my custom rods and such but I take my Ugly Stik to be part of something that feels good and gives good performance. One of the kids showed up the other day in his pickup truck with a fishing rod and reel unsecured in the bed of his truck. I said it should be tied and he said its an Ugly Stik and he's never seen one break, besides, I introduced it to him over a dozen years ago. That Stephan is going to be a good dad one day. Ugly Stik, get one, own one and take a kid, no, a bunch of kids fishing and you will be remembered. Through the years, I have taken new kids fishing and even young men and ladies fishing. Its a good feeling July 11, 2010

about the guides?

Details:
My question is: I read where the guides are Stainless Steel. How will they stand up to braided super lines? I know from years past the braided lines will cut into metal guides and ruin them.....Thank for any ideas on this.

I use mono line on this rod and even that is wearing down the guides. I would replace the tip top with a Fuji Hardloy.

A casting rod has a trigger on the handle and requires a baitcast reel, which sits on top of the rod. Spinning rods have no trigger and require a spinning reel, which is mounted under the rod.

A:
Yes these tiger rods are what you want if your going after fish 5 to 30 lbs very tuff rod stainless eyelets be sure and select your action for the size fish your after the meduim light 12 to 30lbs has very good action even from a 1lb fish. The walleye can get pretty big I would use the meduim light action for walleye. You could use it for pan fishing if you wanted but I would select the light action for pan fish.

I would think most would find these rods a little overkill for walleye. Commonly used for big catfish or saltwater fish.

These rods are for conventional reels. The trigger is usually associated with baitcasting reels.

No item number 38-133-698-00 does not have a trigger. Most big water rods are not designed with the trigger.
