Rated 5 out of 5Â by BLM26CC 7'6" Ugly Stik Striper rod
Earlier I said in a review, that I'd be buying more of these rods.
And I did. I think my total now is "12" of them!
Call me crazy. But they work so well. And are a great Value.
They are great Trout, Redfish, Sheepshead, Flounder, Black Drum and more rods for all my inshore charter fishing.
My customers like the action they get from big fish on them.
And I have the confidence they won't snap in half like so many of my other rods have, with inexperienced fisherman.
Big fish + Light tackle = Ugly Stik.
I've been full circle on rod brands. And now I'm back with Ugly Stiks, 13 years later.
The Striper rod just ain't for Stripers.

I bought 5 of these striper rods in 7'6" to be used as my Speckled Trout & Redfish rods for charters. Because they break all my other rods I have tried with the public.
The action is lighty but strong and for the price they work great for all the inshore species I chase.
So much that I have $250 dollar custom rods that now sit, and when I head out solo, I grab the Striper Ugly Stik.
Best bang for the buck, when it comes to a 7'6" casting rod, with a real nice parabolic type action .
I plan on ending up with 5 more!!

I use the 7' model. The med action works well. I'caught many Stripers and Blues on these. The reel I use is a Penn bait runner, cause sometimes we use bunker chunks or liveliness. The second drag on the rear of this reel is fantastic.A:Â
for downlining stripers, a lot of striper guys and i use heavy action ugly stik striper rods with either abu garcia 6500's or shimano 6000's. you want a big round reel with a good drag that'll hold lots of 20 or 40 lb line.also for downlining, use 3 oz slinding weights, 2' to 3' of fluorocarbon leader of the same lb test, and 3/0 or 4/0 gamakatsu circle hooks depending on the size of the bait!

Any Medium to medium heavy Ugly Stik would be good w/ 50 pound Braid.A:Â
Go to the Shakespeare "Catfish rods", I use 50# braid with those for Giant Redfish bottom fishing, rather than the striper rods that are lighter action.Same rods, just the catfish models are heavier.

I'm not crazy about this rods action at all. If you prefer a stiff rod that can horse fish, get the catfish model. Its heavier, but I prefer it to the striper rod.Details:Â
I originally bought the BPS CatMaxx reel, so I could string up some 20lb braided...but it doesn't fit on this pole?!?Which reels would work on this pole and support 20lb test?

i'm an avid striper fisherman and i can say that majority of people on lake hartwell, murry, clarks hill, and sante cooper, all rig these with abu gacia 6500 C3's. you can use up to 25 lb mono,it has a bait clicker, and still has a low enough gear ratio to winch in a 40 lb fish.A:Â
I bought an EXTREME 40 for my Striper rod and it performs very well. I use 30lb power pro on the reel. I get long smooth casts and great feel !Images for this Answer
