Offering the perfect actions for live bait and plug casting, the Shakespeare Ugly Stik Striper Rods are built using the Howald Process™ which combines graphite and fiberglass to create super-strong yet ultra-sensitive rods. The Striper Rods' quick-taper Clear Tip won't let fish feel resistance when taking the bait and their blank-through-handle design maximizes sensitivity allowing anglers to feel what the fish don't. Guides feature stainless-steel frames and aluminum oxide inserts to withstand the rigors of saltwater. Durable EVA handles provide all-day casting and fish-fighting comfort.

To each his own, but I don't care for this rod. I got the 7'6 based on reviews to use for general salt water fishing. I typically like ugly stiks because of the durability and use them for bait fishing, but this rod just feels awkward and clunky. It doesn't cast all that well or feel great in your hand either. I find the new saltwater inshore series far superior to this, so check them out before you purchase.

by ChevyBoyTrey Awsome fishing rod.
To Start off, my Shakespeare ugly stik arrived earlier than i expected, so thats also a plus, but i like the feel of the grip, from the clear tip of the pole down to the last loop feels much accurate. My first time bringing this rod out on the salt water, i caught two fish and two crab, compared to my old rod, the ugly stik has won my loyalty.

I just purchase this not to long ago, I also recently purchased the Original Ugly Stik. I like the way how it looks, its different color. But what really got me was the feeling of it, It's very flexible and durable, I do plan on collecting the Ugly stik line, but if you want something really Light and just as durable try out the Shakespeare Ugly stik Lite.
I wouldn't say I'd Highly recommend this rod to anyone, but if your just looking for something different and try something new get this rod. I love the Ugly stik line.

Don't be fooled by the price of this rod, it truly is the "only" rod to striper fish with. Solid backbone for good hooksets but a soft enough tip for live bait fishing. The fish can feel the resistance until it's too late! Plus the guides are awesome, this is one tough rod!
