Offering the perfect actions for live bait and plug casting, the Shakespeare Ugly Stik Striper Rods are built using the Howald Process™ which combines graphite and fiberglass to create super-strong yet ultra-sensitive rods. The Striper Rods' quick-taper Clear Tip won't let fish feel resistance when taking the bait and their blank-through-handle design maximizes sensitivity allowing anglers to feel what the fish don't. Guides feature stainless-steel frames and aluminum oxide inserts to withstand the rigors of saltwater. Durable EVA handles provide all-day casting and fish-fighting comfort.

Best rod in my arsenal. Took it to the Lower Illinois river 5 days after I got it. Great rod on small fish and for large fish. Priced low and you get the best. I'm buying 2 more.

I love this fishing rod! I have three of them and use them for downrigger rods on Lake Michigan. This pole can with stand the abuse that big kings throw at it. I would recommend this fishing rod to anyone.

The rods got a nice backbone to it, it's an uglystick so durability is included. The tip is on the flimsier side for a medium/heavy rod, so when u reel in just your bait. it arches real easily. Other then that the rod will hold up against 15 to 20 lb stripers still. Nice rod and an absorbing tip to it.

I used the shorter stiff rods all last year and loved them for trolling. You can feel the fish pretty well with them and they are well made. When I'm shoving them in my rod box and snag the eyes on the tubes, there is no danger of breaking an eye. Very sturdy.
I just bought some of the longer medium soft rods and I look forward to trying those as well.
I use lighter tackle and rods with more feel for still fishing, but for rugged trolling conditions these are the ticket for me. Paired them up with some Okuma line counters and have no complaints.
