I bought this rod, 7' Medium, for my girlfriend as an all around fishing rod. I paired it with a 4000 size reel and 10lb braid. This rod has caught largemouth bass, a 9 lb flathead catfish, and most recently a 10 lb snook. Now I'm buying two for myself, the 7' Medium Light and 7'6"Medium Heavy.

This is a good rod for inshore and throwing popping corks, but it is not like traditional ugly stik in that only the top half of the rod is made of uglystik material and the lower half is just a regular rod. Not a bad rod just be aware that it can't bend like a traditional ugly stik.

Just purchased these rods and they feel absolutely wonderful. they are lightweight but have a ton of backbone. I have two of the 7'6 Medium power rods paired with the Okuma Trio 40 BF reel and it is a superb match with color and weight. Excellent length for casting distance as well as fighting the fish. it can also be used freshwater for catfish striper and bass.

This rod is impressive! I have my share of Falcon and Tsunami inshore rods but I took a stab at this bargain. I have never been an Ugly Stick fan but the previous reviews sold me. This rod has a fast tip and lots of backbone. I will definitely buy more in the future and plan to gift it to some buddies. The feel is great and the components are top quality. Not a limber rod like other other Ugly Sticks, so don't base your purchase on your prior knowledge of other models. I have the medium action 7'6 model of the Inshore Select series. I will likely buy the medium light 7'6 model next. The only hiccup is the rod is slightly (almost unnoticeable) heavier than other $100+ models. But don't let it shy you away. A great purchase.

the action is relatively stiff and can handle bigger baits and live bait easily. the tip is soft and you will be able to feel the softest of bites. rod is light but can handle big fish.Details:Â

how would this rod do fishing off a pier with a drop of say 15ft ,will it allow me to bring a 30inch striper up with out breakingAnswers
A:Â
The medium light would not be a good candidate for this, the medium heavy could do it.A:Â
It definately would..was fishing a couple of weeks ago and hooked something really big..rod was bent almost double..no problem for this Stik! I have since purchased two more, You cant beat the warranty and quality of this rod!A:Â
no, you would need a bridge net.I have used this rod and it is not a lifting rod especially for 30in stripers.

what size reel goes good with the 7.6 mh,im going to match it with a penn battle 6000, would this rod ,reel combo be okAnswers
A:Â
The reel seat clearance is the draw back to these rods, check with the reel you intend to use before buying.A:Â
The rod will handle that reel but it will be alittle heavy. I was using a pflueger presidente with my rod, 7.6 mh, for stripers off a boat down near the gas docks (calvert cliffs) on the Chesapeake. If you're gonna be casting alot try to keep with a smaller reel to lesson the strain it puts on your arms. You can just load the reels up with braid if you are worried about lb test/ydsA:Â
The Penn Battle 6000 would work well with the 7'6" MH rod.Details:Â
I fish redfish and trout. Will this rod be a good rod? I am looking at the mediun and medium heavy inshore select rods.Answers
A:Â
The medium light has landed 22-23" trout and redfish without issue.A:Â
It will definately handle Redfish as I have already caught some ... have the 7 foot med. and just received a 7 foot 6 med. heavy. I have swapped over some of my more expensive reels to these rods because I like them so much. You will be happy with either one.A:Â
The rods are 7' and 7'6"Details:Â
